I believe it's the NY idiots trying to stir up the pot...they got nothing better to put on their sports sections...it's just a way of making money..

The story came from Larry Brooks of NY Posts. He might as well be a fantasy fiction writer. He is notorious for making shit up as he goes along.

Rangers, Montreal and Philly who are the other rumoured teams are right up to the cap. Rangers can't exactly just dump the salaries of Drury or Gomez because of no trade clauses and training camp is just around the corner. Sure, they'd like Sundin but they don't want to screw up the chemistry of the team either.

Not sure why Sundin gets slammed so badly. He's still a great player and can put the puck in the net. The Matts Messier comments make no sense to me. Sundin is not a prima donna only kept around in the league because he is seen as such a great leader. He is a player and a good one at that. Worth 10 million per season? Obviously not, but if he is the best that we can get, then get him. If we don't, I imagine there will be a lot of whining about it later if scoring becomes an issue again.

Of course he's not interested in Vancouver. If he was, there'd be ink on a contract. No one else will offer him more.

I don't understand why would ANYONE want to play for the Canucks, except for maybe a local boy. There's WAY too much travel; worst travel schedule in the entire league. A veteran player who has his pick of teams will always opt to travel less, not more.

Also guys, don't forget that Matt can take the route like Forsberg did the last couple of years.
He could opt to take the whole year off and come back with a month left or into the playoffs as a rent a player.

Money is not a issue for Sundin, otherwise, he would of signed with Van instantly. Sundin has racked over 70 million dollars in his NHL career and thats not including endorsments either.
He won't be applying at Burger King anytime soon or asking you " would you like fries with that".:D
