An aspiring model who shaved eight years off her age in a bid to make it big in America narrowly escaped jail today.

Vain brunette Saskia Porter, then 35, was convinced she had to recapture her late twenties - at least on paper - if the Hollywood job offer she had received was to result in a signed contract.

Excited by the prospect that it might lead to a TV presenting job, Porter lost little time forging her birth certificate - changing 1971 into 1979.

Porter then used this to get a replacement passport, telling the authorities that her dog had dined on her old one, London's Southwark Crown Court heard.

And it's not just models and escorts..i have clients who lie about their age! So silly. Keep yourself healthy & age becomes a huge bonus.

I'm one of those extremely lucky guys who looks younger than I really am, I'm 49. I attribute this to 33 years of smoking, bad eating habits, drinking way too much and my late fathers genes. I even got ID'd for smokes about 5 years ago I'm proud to be the age I am and I love hearing " You sure don't look that old. You must live a healthy lifestyle."

I was being sarcastic about her "dog dying" it's kind of like saying "my cat ate my homework" as in her excuse for getting a new passport with a new DOB

I'm not so sure. Age discrimination is very real. Ours' is a youth obsessed culture and this obsession gives credence of 'youthful vitality' over experience and 'wisdom'.

To achieve a specific goal I would lie about my age. I doubt that I would alter my passport though.

She was dumb to do that, but the British passport renewal procedure must be very lax.

I just renewed my Canadian passport, and I had to submit the one that was about to expire along with the renewal application. Any conflicting information between the two would have been flagged easily.

i think you misread, what the lady said was "her dog had dined on the old one" as in eaten it, not died as in passing away

which is obviously how she got around having to turn in the old one
