All they want is your money. Once they receive it, they just kick you in the balls and run away.

I just wanted to cancel my order I placed with a sales rep. I talked to him on the phone after emailing him and leaving a message in his voice mail. He told me he sent the cancel request.

I tried canceling the computer order before it got built and shipped so I would not have to pay shipping and any restocking fees. A few days later after I talked to the rep, I find out the computer was shipped! WTF!

Did the rep really send that cancel request or just ignored it so he gets commission? BTW, the rep is from their call center in India. If I understood Dell's "Total Satisfaction Return Policy", I have to pay 15% restocking fee? That's more that $450 down the drain!

I rather spend that money with a great SP but instead I got fucked by an Indian Call Guy! (I don't mean to offend anyone but I have heard in the past of bad service from call centers in India not just Dell. I tried to overlook it but now I confirmed it!)

I am refusing the shipment when it comes so at least I will not have to pay for shipping. I already sent an email to my sales rep and his supervisor asking for a FULL refund or else I send more letters to their company and do my best to destroy their already pathetic name.

No more Dell for me!   And I suggest you stay away from their company too!

Sales rep on the phone told me it would be at my door in 3 days.
took nearly 40 days with me calling over and over, dealing with people who couldn't understand english. all they do is try to upsell you on everything

Had my probems with Dell as well. First it was trying to place an order. Got to the point where I told them to give me a rep that spoke English or they could forget it. That got me a number for one of the Canadian call centers. I placed my order and was told it would be delivered within a week. I missed the delivery driver by 10 minutes. Purolator refused to re-deliver, said I had to come and get it. Told them to piss off and either deliver, with some notice as to when they would be here, or send it back to Dell. I got a few calls from Purolator, that I had stuff to be picked up. At the end of it, the computer got returned to Dell. They tried to argue I refused delivery, I pointed out they refused to deliver and that were it ended. Didn't cost me a dime, only time.

So, were you able to get a full refund? Instead of having my order financed, I paid it full with a credit card. I hope they give me back the WHOLE amount.

Just refuse the shipment, if they dont make a full refund in a timely manner, call your credit card company, and they will issue you a credit to what you pay.

If I do my math right (and let's not assume anything here...lol) that means you spent $3000 on a Dell PC? Wow...THAT'S where you got screwed ;)

"Dude...what were you thinking?"

A friend bought a computer from Dell. When she got it, she found out the hard drive was missing. lol

I build my own computers locally. You might pay a bit more, but it is totally worth it.

Yes, it's my fault. I needed a powerful laptop for what I do and unfortunately Dell had the best deal for the configuration I needed... including their so called warranty.

I didn't have a problem with Dell, but that was 2-3 years ago. Also, I think if your call center is serving an English population (i.e. North America!) they should speak decent English, whether located in India, Quebec, or wherever.

I remember reading something recently about Dell moving towards prebuilt computers.

The bad thing about my situation is that the rep spoke good English, so language was not the problem. He understood me very well when I told him I wanted to cancel my order.

That means it is either the rep still wanted the sale to go through so he gets his commission and meets his quota for the day or Dell's service is just plain awful.

Generally, if the reps in the call center do not meet a number of sales per day or meet some kind of quota, they lose their jobs. That's why you get your 7pm phone calls in the middle of dinner from sales rep. begging you to switch to whatever or buy their useless product. My brother managed a call center outside Canada and he showed me what they do. That's one business I'd stay away from!

I thought Dell's call centers would be better than these other companies but nope!!

Yeah, that is a completely different issue than undersstanding you.

And that's where call display is handy. If I don't recognize the phone number I don't answer it during the diner hour.

Same here! I hardly pick up my phone nowadays, I just screen my calls.

Might want to think about that. If they deliver what was ordered and in a timely manner, you might have a problem. After all you did enter into a contract, and even if it was only a verbal contract over the phone, it can be enforced.

Actually both. Dell, was a matter of dealing with some fool in India who's comprehension of English seemed to be limited to the sales spiel only. I wanted to ask some questions about configuration, but he didn't want to provide any answers without my name, address etc. His supervisor was even worse, when I finally got to talk to him. Purolator, they were just f**king ignorant. A delivery to a business during the course of a working day, generally works out and they can just show up any time during business hours. A delivery to home address, I suggest is a bit different, people do go out to work. They don't just sit around for a few days during the probable delivery time, waiting for Purolator to show up.

That is where Dell fails, miserably. If I want a computer, I want a computer now, not 2 weeks to a month later. I also want to see it before I buy it. I want to feel excited over a new purchase. Where is the best place to get excited over a new computer? At a store.

HP's and Toshiba's retail strategies are far superior, with deeper retail channels. It's no wonder Dell is getting ass whooped.

I think Dell read your mind a few months ago. Staples sales Dell products. :p Also, a couple of years ago, Dell has set up kiosks inside malls so you can see some of their products and try them out.

Wow, it sounds like I'm defending them.

To give you an update of my situation, I emailed my sales rep, his supervisor and Dell Support yesterday about my canceled order being shipped. Another sales rep from the call center in India phones me earlier today on behalf of their supervisor and told me I do not have to pay for anything. He was still trying to convince me to accept the laptop because it is a very good deal (it was good, I was able to shave off +$400) by throwing in a printer. I still declined. :( It was very tempting but I should not fall for the Dark Side. :p

I feel a bit better that they assured me I do not have to pay for anything. But I'm a bit disappointed that their supervisor did not make the call himself, nor my original sales rep.

So I leave you with an informal poll. Should I accept the laptop and get them to ship me a free WORKING printer? Or should I just return it? In all honesty, it's my dream machine that is around $400 off the original price. The money I spent for it has to be used for our current business. Or.... I get the machine but I have to prevent myself from seeing around 11 SPs this year to "pay" back our company. :p

I'm sure they left you a note saying where to pickup your box. You don't really expect them to drop by at 10:00am on Saturday morning, and then wait a few minutes more because you are down the street at Starbucks do ya?
