Who fucking cares if criminals get Tazed. I don't. Stealing is stealing, I am sure the taxpayers want to provide free transit to girls like Silky.
Just ask your mom for bus fare Silky, I'm sure she will spot you some until your allowance gets paid on Saturday. Then you won't get Tazed again.

I didn't read this thread much but if they'd just put turnstiles in, non paying fares would be far less of a problem AND cheaper! Honour system my ass!

Anyhow, I think they are implementing turnstiles on the new line? Maybe even bringing it in on the old ones? I thought I remember reading somewhere they're gonna do that.

SillyJohnson, it isn't the bus fare ... it is the resisting a ticket or arrest or something like that. There is a *conversation* between "May I see your ticket, sir?" and "don't taze me bro". The unsatisfactory outcome of that conversation is a what causes the high voltage hijinks.
The other evening I got pulled over by the cops going 145 in a 100 zone in the city. I blew past their marked patrol car so there wasn't much to argue about. I was guilty. I was polite and they gave me a ticket for going 110 ... because I didn't have that crackhead-needs-a-tazing attitude you are so in favor of. Cost me $89 and 2 points instead of $264 and 4 points. Sweet. I still burned rubber when pulling back into traffic

If you tell me that ticket/fare check is included in their duty, then I'll say that you are pretty brainless!! They need tasers instead of real guns is also bullshit!! Look, in this industry, you're either dead or alive!! Therefore, tasers are useless!! If you can't fight, you are also not qualified to be a police officier!! If you can't run very fast in a short distance, you are also an idiot!! In conclusion, use your god damn brains!!

I think that to sum up this whole rant about who's right and knows more than that other poster about whether or not cops in Korea can do a kung-fu joint lock, whether tazering criminals rather than shooting them is better.....to sum it all up....
....If you're doing stupid shit, you're going to have bad things happen to you. If you resist arrest, or run from the cops, they are going to use whatever they have within their means to stop you. And, yes, most likely it's going to be really painful. Most people who run from the cops over a silly not paying the fare to ride Transit are running for more than just trying to cop a free ride.
Most are either (as stated b4) on drugs, mentally unstable, need drugs, are wanted or are just dramatic freaks that want to further their personal agenda against the "Police State" that is taking over our lives. Again, if you do stupid stuff, bad things are going to happento you.
Think about this....when you were a child, say 4 or 5...and Mom said don't touch the stove, it's hot, you either take her advice or do something stupid and touch the stove. It's the consequence for living in the problem, which alot of folks like to live. Same thing if you hear that you have to pay to ride the Skytrain....if you don't have a ticket, and you get pinched, just get a ticket or get the fine....why run? You run because there's something that you're doing that is really wrong in your life...ding dong.

Funny thing is that I was listening to the radio, and there was a story on tasers. Studies that prove or disprove that tasers are not lethal have ALL been funded by Taser International, the manufacturer of the tasers. Of course results will say tasers aren't lethal. Some governments are trying to push for independent studies.
One was started today by a retired BC judge. This is supposed to be the independant study that anti-tasers have been looking for.
