DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

I won't give anything away, but what starts off as a good and interesting film with a character you love to hate and one you find easy to root for and one you're curious to see what role they will play in the climax, ends in a MOST disappointing manner!

If you do go and see this film there is a very good chance that you will walk out of the theatre wishing that the Cohen brothers were around so that you could kick them both in the nuts for that ending!

Save your $11.95!

Don't get me wrong, excellent plot, great cast/acting, action, suspense, but that ending will leave you wanting your money back! Personally I'm a big fan of TLJ's and he's great, has some good lines, but still... thumbs down from HH07.

There was an interview with the Coen bros. and a couple of cast members on Charlie Rose last night. CR was fawning on the guys. The clips they showed did look interesting, but thanks HH07 for the comments. I'll have a look at it when I can do so for free.

The ending was a bit of surprise but other than that I really enjoyed the film. It's a movie that has to be seen at least twice to fully understand all the little twists and turns.

I saw the movie last weekend and found it quite good. Yes the ending is abrupt, but that's mostly because you expect everything to be wrapped up. (Which it is in a convoluted way...)

Javier Bardem is excellent, as well as Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, and Kelly Macdonald.

I suggest you take another look friendo...

Also while you have the chance go see Blade Runner: Final Cut which has been released and is playing at Empire Cinema on Granville.

It reminded me a lot of Eastern Promises a couple of months ago. Both movies are very well made and acted but the endings just made it an unsatisfying experience somehow.

Just don't Understand

Did you bother to read the book?

There was so much going on in that movie.

You actually have to think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you want everything in your life spelled out for you????

Finally a movie that makes you think.

Don't be so nutty..

Don't be so simple minded. Not everything comes wrapped for you all the time.Think about some of the symbolism in that movie. What was it about??

What happened in the end. Did you actually pay attention...

Most movie critics are calling it one of the best, if not the best movie of 2007. No disrespect, but I think I'll take their word over yours, HappyHunter. The Coen Brothers have never made a movie I didn't enjoy and three of their movies were, by any standard, brilliant: "Blood Simple", "Miller's Crossing" and "Fargo". I'm greatly looking forward to seeing "No Country For Old Men" next week. It's the first movie they didn't write themselves and seeing how they've adapted someone else's work will be most interesting, I'm sure.

Why is it always near the end of the year, that movie critics rate these types of movies (dramas) to be Oscar potentials?
Small budgets, tiny box office amounts under $30million and not that many big stars.A limited advertising budget like catering to selected cities before going nation wide.
Even worse when critics saying it's Oscar worthy before the movie has been release.

Apparently the ending was 100% faithful to the book. I doubt Cormac McCarthy, the author, would have been thrilled to have the ending changed to a Hollywood ending, which is no doubt why he sold the rights to the Coen brothers. He knew they wouldn't mess with it just to please some Hollywood mogul.

Movie critics get a pre-screening of movies well ahead of the release date (most movies, anyway ... the really bad ones often aren't available for pre-screening because the producer/director doesn't want bad buzz to cause people to stay away ... let them shell out twelve bucks and then find out for themselves that the movie stinks) so of course they will tout or diss a movie before it has been released. The critics aren't sitting around waiting for it to show up at the local cineplex before they can review it.

As far as the end of the year goes, most movie studios hold back their best movies for release in November and December so they will attract Oscar attention and be fresh in the mind of the members of the Academy (who choose the Oscar winners). No studio releases a terrific movie in January for fear it will have faded from memory by the end of the year and therefore not get the Oscar attention it deserves.

A perfect example of YMMV

Obviously, your mileage may vary, even when it is only in the mind of the customer -- we all perceive things in different ways. I saw this movie yesterday and loved it. The movie ended on its real theme, not on some fake happy ending that wouldn't have made any sense.

And Javier Bardem makes one scary villain....

I thought it was awesome, but the ending was not my cup of tea. It and eastern promises are the best I have seen this year though. Both these movies had awesome badasses. Javier Bardem was so good it was almost comical! I loved the part where he is in the gas station talking to the clerk, so funny lol

VV & JAG are right about this, the movie is a good one - one of the Coen's best for sure.
That said, you will need to be a thinker to understand the story & put the pieces together.

The crux of the story is that all is fleeting ... in th REAL world the hero does not always win.
Truth is the good guys usually are the losers in the REAL world & for that this movie rings true to life.

They say the road to hell is paved with best intentions.

In this movie L****** M*** is the "good guy" who you want to win.

The reflective commentary at the final few scenes shows realism rather than Hollywood idealism.

Kudos to the Coen Bros. for having the guts to break the Hollywood mold.

I say go see this movie ....
and put your thinking cap on when you do!

What was wrong with it? Not enough lasers or explosions for you?

That movie was the best I've seen in a long time. Just because the ending wasn't some typical Hollywood cliche doenst mean it was bad.
