Is there a hierarchy in Perb. Over the last few months it has come to my attention that certain members run this site,or think they do.
Thur the many dramas and the no review list I think a list can be made.

This should not be the case. It is by name a review site. There is also a lounge or General Area where ideas can be brought forth.

I know when it comes down to it the Mods do actually hold all the strings and they can allow what does and does not get posted.

I mean know disrespect to anyone here, but I have heard rumblings like this before and have chatted about it with Sp's that I have seen.

Some people get away with rants that others cannot. You're righton my Ironman;)

Interesting comment, Ironhead.

As a casual observer, long time lurker and recent addition, I would tend to agree with you.

But I would also argue that this is true of any herd, group or society, virtual or otherwise. It is called dominance in the animal kingdom, and goes by the more polite name of politics amongst humans.

The notion of egalitarianism or democratic equality remains but a utopian ideal, even here in cyberspace.

There will always be loudmouths and bullies and chatterboxes and reactive folk who want to rush in and control and organize things, sometimes even with good intentions.

The manner in which I perceive some people here do that, intentionally or otherwise, is what made me avoid signing up for so long.

But overall, the anonymity and inter-connective opportunities available probably overshadow whether or not "certain members run this site".

To those who volunteer there time as Mods - thanks for stepping up.

To those who appear to overpost or excessively push their points of view, well ... if I don't like what ya' gotta say, I don't have to listen.

In the end, does it matter?
It's just a bunch of 0's and 1's.

Peace / Out

I think that your observation is correct-some people have senior member status, so I guess thats a perk. Also when I first came up here I did notice a pecking order & was a bit hazed (though the effectivness hasn't cowed as intended:rolleyes: ) Let them hot shots be happy running the show, Perbs abouts resouce & comradery...we're all affiliated in some way, so just consider them another type of twit you'v had to deal with just like in everyday life:D
senior member just means we've survived this long ... and posted alot ..

nothing more ...

There is no hierarchy, there is no preferential treatment and I am personally insulted that some of you continue to think so, I have gone well out of my way to be fair, and to look into issues in detail before responding, this, amongst other reasons is why it sometimes takes a while for me to reply to PM's.

The reason why some people 'appear' to get away with things is simple. Even in my most deluded of states I never mistake myself for god. Put another way, I cannot read every post in every thread in every forum (I do get tired of saying that over and over, but it is nonetheless true). This means if something is amiss and somebody sends me the link with the detail as to what they think is wrong I look into it.

The flip side is if nobody complains, and I don't run across it on my own then nothing happens.

If you want a better board then I suggest you stop complaining, whining and insisting that there are hidden agendas, and 'controls' behind the board. This is not Conspiracy Theory (a damn good movie by the way). If you want a better board then step up and take some responsibility. If you see something you don't agree with send me the details - but stop going on and on and on and on about how things are run and that you don't like it.

Stop complaining and do something!

It took almost 2 years, but I finally had my first official Mod rant.

God, I think I am PMS'ing...

I don't know for sure but I know I took the post like it wasn't aimed at mods but more at members. Us brats lol:)

Like there are members here who are like "well check out my two thousand and twenty seven reviews you shill" and girls like "yeah well I have friends on the board so I have to be right"

I think sometimes maybe newbies feel left out or like the guy who had the weird no show with the chick who was highly reviewed and didn't want to say her name kinda of thing.

I think there MAY be some intimidation if an old school member attacks a newbie or calls them a shill or a reviewer feels weird about saying something about a popular perb girl.

But I really don't think it has anything to do with the mods. The mods (as far as I can tell :D ) think we're all a bunch of lunatic red-headed step children lol:D . PROBABLY NOT FAR OFF LOL!

Don't take offense. I know Ironhead and I think I know where his head was at and it wasn't to attack the mod system here....so save your shoppers optimum points with that damn midol:D

I wonder what kind of people they are in real life if they are intimidated to post their experience in an SP forum...IN CYBERSPACE of all places. It's Bullshit. Your post is sent to a network of computers that is then accessed by other people in that network, should they choose. There is no spatial or physical interaction other than you and a computer, laptop or PDA privately in the comfort of your home, office, or web cafe. Should it be intimidating when some other member flames you for something you've written? Hell no! He or she has no idea who he's communicating with. Golden opportunity to give them a taste of their own medicine...

"Act as if! Act as if you have a nine inch cock, act as if you are vice president of the company." Trying to quote Ben Affleck in "Boiler Room" here and it's true. He applied it to brokers trying to sell stock on a telephone. What do they know about you on the other end of the line and does it matter? If you're going to post some bullshit about an SP you saw last night, let us decide if it's true or not, and the seasoned members here know how to pick up on bullshit and the shills. I'm giving them shit at least once a week if not more. If they're too scared to get in shit online than they must be quite meek in real life. How is getting shit online taxing on you as opposed to someone who gives you shit in your physical presence? Which also is not taxing if you throw the shit back in his face.

If they want to remain in their dark little corners in cyberspace (where ever that may be) then let them, whimps! My favourites are the goofs who sign up and never post and like 3 years, 4 months and 16 days later they post a question on 411, or even the review section, expecting us, who regularly contribute by posting info and intel, to give them free information when all along they've been hoarding huge amounts of valuable info. Without fail, I let them have it. And the ones who see their mistake and realize this is tick for tack will usually post a review, and subsequent ones. The whimps, who are afraid and scared off by my comments refrain for a few weeks and sometimes have the balls to come back and pull the same crap! So there is a heirarchy and it consists of people who contribute and give intelligent (or somewhat intelligent) feedback to other posts and their reputations are substantiated with more posts and more feedback. If their posts are pointless drivel, then no one pays attention to their posts...kinda like mine:D

I'll admit it, I lurked around the board for a bit, read the reviews, saw some of the gems that were positively reviewed, got stuck with a couple of shills. Then I joined and contributed and the experiences were so much more enjoyable.

And then one day, in my early poon posting days, I got flamed by GBM, for something that I wrote and that he could not see it my way. So he insulted me, started writing all sorts of crap and I started writing all sorts of crap about him and it became the flame match of the century. But even though he had over 3500 posts and I had only 10, I didn't back down. Now I'm not looking for a pat on the back or any crap like that, but I'm trying to show that he thought he could intimidate me and belittle me because of his impressive amount of (bullshit) posts. I let him have it too, for a few weeks the argument went on...he even threatened, "to find" me, and coerce me into some prison like setting (the guy's delusional) and other threats that didn't make sense.

What did I care? I was sitting in the comfort of my den, acting as if I have a nine inch cock, as if I was armed to the teeth should he find me, etc. He even made a comment that I insulted his heritage. How the hell do I know what his heritage is if I never met the fawcker?!??!?! This guy makes you think he has more information than he actually has, and he eventually starts to believe it himself.

So, my point is there is no excuse for posters to be intimidated for being flamed for what they have to say. Say it and let the chips fall...you know. We're all adults and most of us can decipher good from bad info. It's not your post count that affects your status in the heirarchy on perb but in how thoughtful, reliable and honest your posts are. This is a REVIEW board after all. Scared? Go live under a rock!

"That's it, I'm DONE!"
