Some SPs had mentioned to me recently that business was slower recently when compared to the beginning of the month. In my mind I figured it was likely due to the looming tax payments many might have. But it was just a hunch, so I figured I'd see if it's an actual thing or if i should stop bullshitting people :LOL:

It could be true depending what ones income is. For most who are average income owners costs could be a factor this time of year. For myself, I owed due to capital gains taxes, I have upcoming Condo ( if you own a place ) and vehicle insurance, upcoming property tax. People could saving up for upcoming travel vacations etc etc. It could be slower for some.

Tax time normally has no effect of when I go out for a little fun. If anything, the extra money I've raked in lately has had me having even MORE fun.

If only we can claim pooning expenses along with vet fees I will be golden. Call it mental health related expenses and dependent medical fees. I joke of course as I am not an expert.

I received a nice refund. But that only means I gave them too much to begin with. Every cent went into savings, destined for a TFSA.
The government has no money, only yours. You just got some of yours back.

I actually spend more ;)
But only becuz my fav girl was visiting and my BD is close, so I decided to reward myself.
Plus I will get chunky rebate from the gov't. Taxes won't be pretty next year, so better spend now.

For SPs that have come here for tours in years past, they've noticed a downward trend in volume. hard to gauge the impact across varying factors, based on the the responses to this poll, doesn't seem like tax season has a material impact on the pooning economy :unsure:

It will affect me. Made huge profits last year, which means big taxes. The exhorbitant installments didn't cover half.

Problem is, the profits are all on paper. I lived on basically a fixed income, although I can tap the keg if I need to.

Combined Provincial and Federal marginal tax rates.
BC = 53.5%
AB = 48.0%
SK = 47.5%
MB = 50.4%

It sucks when over half your money goes to the government. Those numbers are just income tax and do not include other forms of provincial and federal taxes, and then add on municipal taxes.

If you factor in PST, GST and property taxes, I'm probably at 65% to government.

And in return, I get clogged, pot-holed roads, no police response to break-ins, addicts camping on my street, no doctor, impossible ER waits. But hey - as much free Narcan as anyone can take.

I too am in a high tax bracket and pay 6 figures in taxes. Largest scam in history, and we get nothing to show for it. I go to private clinics for testing because I dont want to wait 2 years for a test to find out I have something serious. My kids go to private schools because the public system sucks ass. I dont take transit. Bums everywhere and we pay for them to tweak out and get free narcan. Cant even drive my nice cars in peace, the roads are shit and construction sites everywhere putting in garbage ass bike lanes nobody gives a shit about. Fucking despise the NDP and their pathetic, lazy, loser voter base. Im not even factoring in the paper losses on my real estate holdings from the NDP and federal libs tag teaming the real estate industry.
