Tonight is the 50th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald sinking with all hands in Lake Superior at 7:15 PM. Thanks to Gordon Lightfoot’s song it won’t be forgotten. Interesting at the anniversary of the sinking by the families after his passing the ships bell was rung 30 times instead of 29 to thank him for keeping the memories alive.

The Canadian band The Headstones does an absolutely rockin' version of the song. Thanks Gordon and RIP.
Found it and gave it a listen. Interesting take. Lacks the same punch of the original.

Gordon's original wasn't just about the words, but what the music evoked as well. Like when the drums come in and it feels/sounds like the actual storm he's describing; how the lulls and actual silences gives you time to ponder what's going on and the absolute horror of it.

But Kudos to any band that wants to tackle that song and manage to rip out nearly two full minutes of it in the process!
