He and John Mayall changed my musical tastes way back and brought a whole new world to this old boy.

I only remember Chuck from his one cross-over hit. Never really got into his music. May need to revisit it.

John Mayall basically spawned Cream (Clapton and Jack Bruce); Fleetwood Mac (Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green, John McVie) and influenced one of the best iterations of the Stones with Mick Taylor.
