I haven't seen any comments on NHL, Canucks part.
I doubt if Calgary will still be in the wild card mix by week's end as they're in a tough road trip thru Tor.&the NY trifecta.
so, Canucks, Blues&Utah to scrap over last WC spot
Can the 'Nucks squeeze in?

Dodgers&Cubs open the MLB season in Tokyo, has to be the earliest start ever?
Both rosters have Japanese players, well known from playing in the Japan League.
The rest of the teams start in about 10 days I think.

Probably not a huge following but March Madness is on for the next 3 weekends.

Jr hockey playoffs just around the corner

Something for everyone!

not a big soccer fan, but a few weeks ago I thought Liverpool had a real shot at the quadruple of titles.
Then, a Huge upset in the FA by a 2nd tier team whose name I can't remember, a home loss in the Champion's League, and now losing the League Cup
whilst being heavy favorites, leaves them only the Premier League to celebrate.
Most seasons winning the Premiership would be big celebration but I have to think Liverpool will look back with more regret than joy?
Congrats to the Magpies breaking a long dry spell!

Things are looking down for the Canucks with their recent loss to St. Louis combined with all their other close rivals winning their games too.
Not impossible for them to make it yet, but there's just something about the team where they either just make it it or just fail. They do not soar, they do not tank.

If the Canucks do not make it, I am rooting for the Jets all the way to the Cup in the west, and of course a Canadian team in the east (Montreal, Ottawa, of if necessary, even Toronto).
Perfection would be seeing al all-Canadian Stanley Cup final. That would be like taking a shit on the White House lawn and forcing Bettman to clean it up. (y)

(By the way president Drumpfster Fire was calling for a series of only US-Russia hockey games. I guess he needs to avoid the US losing to Canadians again! :devilish: )

Canucks are hooped. Quinn playing hurt; Petey just got hurt; Höglander hurt; Chytl hurt among others.

Stupidest thing this team ever did was fire Gillis and pretend that they didn't need to rebuild. The second stupidest thing was to keep Benning long after his complete incompetence was evident to everyone except ownership.

The team looked good for about 20 minutes with new management, but right now they have too many holes to fill and not enough resources to make trades or sign free agents to fill those holes.

Best thing that could happen is a total collapse the possibly get some decent picks and start rebuilding. And yes, I'd trade Petey in a heartbeat and seriously, seriously, seriously consider what kind of haul you could get for Quinn (unless he's okay with a couple years of rebuilding for a monster salary).

here's a "that's sports" thought...Canucks score ONCE against Utah, then put SIX past Hellebuck and the Jets.
Maybe more surprising...Flames get stomped on in TO on St.Pats Day,then, 24 hrs later outshoot Rangers 35-13 enroute to a trifecta in the NYC area.

Agree that the Canucks are a in-between team...not good enough to be a serious contender, not bad enough to tear down to the studs for a rebuild.
Playoff chances not looking great.

George Foreman really had 2 careers...the 1st as a menacing,unsmiling power-puncher who seemed invincible..until Zaire, the 2nd as an overweight,smilng grandfatherly figure..until he ko'd his opponent
won the heavyweight title at age 24...and won it again at age 45.
His like will not be seen again.RIP.

Cdn men's soccer team won Bronze at Concaf tournament

March Madness down to sweet 16

What else is going on?

NHL playoffs a few days away, the only uncertainty is East Conference wild card, Jackets still have a hope of catching Habs for last spot.
As is the case every year the 1st round will have damn good series.
Battle of Florida and Battle of Ontario, Kings vs Oilers s/b physical, Stars-Avs will be interesting, Dallas not exactly entering post-season on a roll.
I'd be happy to see Jets and Sens in the Cup Final....Stanley comes North, and a team wins it for the 1st time(I know, Ottawa won the Cup before, but that was when Adam was a boy)

Who are you cheering for?

I cheered for Edmonton last year but to no avail. Thinking Winnipeg this year. Still miss Coach’s Corner when the playoffs come around, somehow they’re not the same without it.

Miss the days of having a hockey playoff draft at the office. They were always fun to be in.

Good back and forth action in the Oilers-Kings game. Must win game tonight for the Oilers or they’re pretty much done I’m afraid.

Blues,Devils,Habs and Oilers all win probable must-win games to get right back into their respective series.
Looks grim for Ottawa.

NFL....Shedeur Sanders undrafted thru 2 rounds...doubt if it will change his self-entitled arrogance.

Lots of high scoring NHL playoff games it seems. The overall speed and skill I think is taking over those super close fore and back checking games.

So now it's on to Round 2 after some stellar series.
If we're wondering if the Jets are only a Home Team...well they have home ice for 4 games vs Dallas.Might not be enough?
If Jets and Oilers both win they'll meet in Conference Final and a Cdn based is in the Final.
Leafs face a tough stretch...Panthers,then possibly the Canes to reach the Final
It's a reach bit IF Leafs get in and face either Jets or Oilers who do you think the Vancouver bar patrons would cheer for?

From here on, I believe that Winnipeg will not face anyone the likes of Binnington.
The shot clock vs any other goalie would dictate Winnipeg should get more goals against anyone else.
