Fake or not fake?

Well, I've been here for a while and from what I read, and what I've experienced, the amount of fake ads\scams is hitting an all time high. I'm going to start making a request of the SP's in this town, and the visitors, to verify that they're real. I'll not bother the well known, well reviewed SP's. But for those on the fringe, just getting started, basically unknown\unreviewed etc. I'm going to ask that they include a selfie with a Winnipeg landmark (even a street sign would satisfy me) in the background. The selfie doesn't have to have their face in the pic. And the pic doesn't have to be anywhere near where they work or live. It would provide a tiny bit of proof that they actually exist and are in our fair city. With any luck the picture has a time\date stamp on it.

I imagine there'll be some push back but if it saves me from even one more wasted trip across town to be greeted by another bait and switch it'll be worth putting up with attitude from the ones who are most likely the scam artists. If this works, and especially if some of the locals read this and start doing it, we'll see the pics showing up in ads in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully.

The only other thing I can think of doing is starting another website with really strict access for advertisers.

If anyone else has any ideas as to how we can slow down the scammers, tell me.

I think you will find they won't be willing to oblige. I have asked that many times and they always decline. Or just send a pic off their ad.

OK. So you believe, and I don't doubt your opinion, that nobody will go for posting local pictures in their ads. What do you think we should do to stop the scams? Turn around and walk away from bait and switches? Some of us already do that but clearly there are people who don't or bait and switch scams would shrivel up and disappear.

I'm open to suggestions for ways to stop this BS.

There is no way to stop them, since I think there are many many guys who don't use this site. If 100% used it I think a sticky would work (I mean a sticky post). Spread the word!!

To investigate yourself.

1) check PERB
2) use tineye image search, there are others as well. Sometimes one hits and another doesn't.
3) look at other city ads, many have the same posts.
4) ask for reviews, screenshots of texts are NOT reviews.
5) DONT pay deposits (especially for incall) unless you know they are real.
6) check the area code, if it is from Pennsylvania it might be fake.
7) If the ad has 3 related ads at the bottom, that are for the same day but in different cities, it might be fake. Shows how dumb they are (or think we are) but still try.

8) if it looks too good to be true it probably is. Use your big head!

Good luck

Maybe somehow PERB could put an ad on leolist, or the other popular sites?
Setup a gofundme :)

Too bad only advertisers can comment freely. Would like to hear from SPs on how they feel about always being questioned if they are real.
(Well -reviewed ladies don’t have this issue)

I’d hope the more smart, legit newish ladies might recognize a need for ways of signalling they are real - a local pic being one EASY way. another being to advertise here where, along with advertising, they can comment on threads and share a bit of their personality which will bring some clients for sure.

Personally, if someone asked me to go on a side quest to take a selfie with a Winnipeg landmark (and for my safety, I'd want it to not be close to my home/incall, hence it being a quest), I'd be mentally telling them to kick rocks. But I do have the benefit of being established and reputable, and I tell guys asking if I'm real to look up my ads, website, reviews, other links etc.
If I were new and just getting established, including a body shot of me in front of a local landmark in my ad photos would be a reasonable request. I would not go out to take a new one with time stamp for every person who asked.

As for avoiding fakes, guys would benefit from honing their ability to spot AI photos and generally fake-looking ads. I also see far too many respond to super sus ads for a significantly lower-than-average rate. Seems like the experience is rarely worth it.

Honestly, we still do! But it's from guys spamming 10 different Leolist advertisers at once who don't bother to do any research or critical thinking, so no big loss :ROFLMAO:

With AI, how hard is it to "make" a photo in front of the confusion corner sign? Just make sure you have the right number of fingers (its amazing, as a young artist, hands were always my downfall, and now AI has the same issue)

Well reviewed providers are not in short supply, and there re plenty of trusted reviewers. Having a good, safe experience is not rocket surgery.

What's the old saying? For most construction jobs, you can choose two of good, fast, cheap. I guess the same goes for this hobby. Good, safe or cheap. I guess too many look for the cheap, sacrificing good and safe.

You don't have to start another site. There's already the advertising section on here or Tryst. But too many guys are looking for the cheap, young, Instagram model. That's why the scams on LL work. Then look at how many requests there are on OhMy ads. There are so many fucktards on here with very low standards. It's a race to the bottom.

As for what you can do, I'll quote myself here.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the best thing you can do is slide that age filter in LL up to 26. A few things about this:

1. It is extremely rare for a lady under 25 to be independent
2. No way are they traveling across country without a pimp keeping them on a short leash.
3. You're weeding out most of the scams running on LL, which are typically in this 25 and under bracket.

Thanks everyone for chiming in. Most of these suggestions don't matter to me, I can usually navigate my way to what I'm after, but there may be a few new members who can really use the info posted in this thread. As far as stopping the scams, it's a work in progress. I know that I don't fall for them (when I make a mistake, I just turn and walk away), now all we have to do is train every horny dude in the province to follow our lead. No deposits. Bait and switch means walk away. Stick to known providers. Etcetera, Etcetera.

Tried several asians and was surprised how limited their language skills were. If someone has to use translate apps for Basic communications that’s a red flag.

Scammers will always succeed becausea:
1- most guys are incapable of rational thought when it comes to sex.
2- most guys are incredibly lazy.
3- most guys refuse to follow simple guidance

Don’t blame the scammers. Blame the guys who enable them.

Would the sp taking a pic holding a current dated newspaper work ? With them in the pic of course. Or a pic of the Winnipeg weather channel showing the date ?

To be honest there are very few truly elite and reliable workers, and they have no need to prove anything to anyone.
For unknowns I rely on reviews from guys here.
The pics you describe could help, obvious scammers wouldn’t do them.
There’s one agency on LL that runs ads with the same dozen pics for every worker. That’s one that I tried and regretted it.
