Trudeau would of done ok, if he just kept the status-quo. Instead he went off on his election promises. He basically spent too much money on social systems and the Aboriginals, which is why he only got a minority in the 2nd election. He fucked over the economy too. Covid came along and spent a ton more of cash he didnt' have.
It goes to show that fed government didn't have enough stores in house to deal with the length of the Covid, until vaccines came out. Does the fed government have big warehouses now full of masks, bandages, respirators (to help patients breathe). The answer is no.. Whatever stocks they had have diminished, and probably due to budget cuts have not been replaced. Also the fed government likes to keep its inventory down, due to heating warehouses in the winter....
As to the BC separation thread, here is a few facts:
1. An economy of 40 million people does better than an economy of 3 million.
2. Trade with Asian countries is long distance, so big container ships will be needed, would need to use the same policy US uses (foreign ships can only port in once and then return to another country).
3. Although BC is rich in minerals, still would have to import oil/gas. Thats a minus on the books.
4. Anything from the rest of Canada would become more expensive.
5. BC doesn't have enough agriculture to support feeding everyone. The grain basket is on the prairies. Another minus.
6. Having a small economy next to the 2nd top world economy would be worse than what Canada has now.
Because of the tariffs, Canada should
1. Become food independant
2. Increase its own production of steel and aluminum
3. Stock pile certain resources for emergencies like Covid, Flood, and earthquakes.
4. Pretty much put the hammer down on Banks for not helping with the above.
5. Make housing afforable by having mortgages on simple interest.
6. Have 90% of housing products made in Canada. Drywall, lumber, windows, kitchen sinks, plumbing parts, electrical wires and parts.
7. Rental equipment more cheaper to rent for construction.
