I'm American.
And again, Canada has come to America's aid in pretty much every single one of its dumb military engagements that it is CONSTANTLY getting itself into. The US is constantly relying on Canada's help (and the rest of the world), because it is always biting off more than it can chew.
I don't think that anyone can name even one example of when Canada needed the help of the US military for much of anything.

The problem is the wealth of America is concentrated into the very few, who control the congress and senate to do their biding (less taxes for the rich). The main idea these day is the quick profit. Or it the buy and sell on the stock market. Its profit, profit, profit, now, now, now. There are no long term investments for people today because of Profit, Profit, Profit....
There is a line in an Eagles song "raped the land". In the book Collapse by Jared Diamond he talks about the gold mining done in Colorado. Companies from NY started gold mines, mined the gold and left toxic waste dumps behind. Hid the profits in shell companies. The state of Colorado was left with the cleanup bill. The taxpayers. In Ontario there is a Aboriginal reservation that has to have water trucked in, because the nearby sources of water (lakes) are contaminated with mercury from a British company working in Ontario. Again taxpayers have to pick up the bill.
So there is a need for pollution controls.
The most powerful country in the world today is China. The US is afraid of China because they have lost 1st place, and are now in 2nd place...The US is not a great power anymore, it is a hollow representation of itself. Look at its politics for the last 40 years. The US has barged into countries, has set up dictatorships in countries and when these countries threw them out, the US uses its influence to cut trade with these countries. Also lets talk about drone strikes in foreign countries, and this is why the is Muslim extremists blowing shit up in Europe and in America. Meanwhile China is investing in these countries that the US doesn't want to industrialize.
US Corporation have moved most of their manufacturing to China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia for the cheaper labor costs and material cost. American corporations don't believe in investing in their fellow Americans.
Look at Amazon, it is shutting down its Quebec plant, because it unionized.
When the going gets tough, the rich just move to another place. Since the earth is getting polluted, why not move to the moon, mars, asteriod belts etc ....

I agree, many parts of the world are polluted and China is a powerful economic force. What exactly is the little guy? Is it a drug addict, alcoholic, a person that worked at a ski resort instead of going to collage? There is nothing wrong with earning money, making wise investments and living within a persons means. I read that 55% of Americans live on credit card debt, many lease vehicles and even more use a HELOC to survive, all of which are insane. The average car loan is over $700 per month……for a deprecating asset. That’s just stupid! I love the student loan bailout. 86% of those “students” majored in things like humanities and art, then wonder why they can’t make money. It is way past time for people and nations to experience the consequences of past actions. The only reason I selected this specific forum is because young, old, rich and poor like sex. I wanted to provide my insight to all segments of society. Look at some of the comments, people attack due to differences of opinion. Many of those people do not have the intellectual capability to debate and are probably “the little guy”. I am so anti government it will make most people’s head spin. The US should mind it’s own business and keep out of international affairs. At the same time, Japan, Ukraine, Israel, Germany, France, Italy and other EU members along with Canada should be entirely self sufficient. Trade is important, but it needs to be equal. The reason,…….because the United States has a direct affect on their way of life. It shouldn’t be that way. I just returned from Tokyo and the Japanese are having a fit. They were recently informed taxes will skyrocket to pay for expansion of the military. They should have already been funding their own military, just like NATO should have, but didn’t.
I am a veteran, 3x in Iraq and 4 in Afghanistan. If aided, you mean a few thousand troops, that is like using a bandaid when a tourniquet is needed. The 52,000 or so troops in the Canadian military, is not nearly enough to secure the huge geographical area in which Canada covers. However, Canada doesn’t fund more troops as they know America will defend them! That way they can put more toward social programs. Canada is one of six nations that do not give 2% to NATO….that way they can give more to drug addicts.
So in your opinion US intervention in both World Wars was not asked for and was not necessary for an Allied forces victory and my saying so will make veterans very ANGRY!!
when in fact in both cases it shortened the wars and saved thousands of allied forces lives...and we needed it to win.
I fail to see how so? In both cases it was other countries asking for help, not Canada. Hell, world war two, the US didn't even care that some of its biggest allies were screaming for help, until Japan brought the war to their front door.
OK everyone else wanted help then....BUT NOT CANADA! Our troops over there didn't need any. We would just as soon they stayed out of it and let us get slaughtered. That better?
I'm well aware of all of that, and it just further makes my point that the US was a neutral party until attacked by Japan and they were forced into the war.
I was simply making the point that Canada is not one to go about starting wars and begging others to help get them out of the mess that they got themselves into. The two world wars were just further evidence of Canada helping out others who have gotten themselves into trouble, when it didn't directly endanger Canada itself.
