When considering "free will", so if god gave us free will, the choice is now ours, not gods choice/ego etc.

I get your point, but we also bring kids into this world, which in a sense have free will, yet we wouldn’t for a minute just let them do anything they want. There are paths that they have the freedom to choose but we also want the best for them especially if their our own. So we put boundaries for their own good. If we saw a path our kid could go down or even someone that is important to us, that we knew would lead to their demise, wouldn’t we try to prevent them even though they have free will to choose that. So do we have an Ego? They might think we do at the time we try to prevent them, but say they end up listening to us and then realize later in life that had they of chosen the other way it would of led to their demise, wouldn’t they be thankful we prevented them
Think about movies like The Matrix or Terminator where man creates computers, and eventually the whole system developes in a sense free will of its own. The thing that man created for good eventually undermines man and turns on them and destroys them. Not sure if this could ever actually happen, but many, even some influential technological giants warn of this in regard to AI (Elon Musk for one). So if we could for-see the future and saw this was going to happen, unless we’re a little messed up, wouldn’t we stop this from happening? I sure hope so. So what makes us so special when we create something to have the audacity/Ego to prevent Skynet from taking over and destroying the earth by putting safeguards in place? ( Skynet is the operating system in the terminator movie that ends up taking over, if you don’t know)
In my universe your God didn’t give anything. Your soul is a smear and intricate part of all moving matter in the universe.
I really enjoy this thread a lot. All this god/Christianity really hits home in a very personal way.
Little back story is that I was raised since birth in the ways of evangelical Christianity. Spending years of my early life under it's spell and now spending years unraveling it.
From day one I was blessed, so to speak (old habits die hard LOL), with an inquisitive mind. I came into this world with the disposition to question anything that I heard. Well you can easily see that a battle began in my mind as the bible stories kept mounting. As a young lad I would hear grown well educated men full of emotion and passion spew fantastical stories without batting an eye. And always ending it with that closing statement, you must be saved or you will burn in hell with the sinners! I remember night after night having that mortal fear of going to hell and desperately praying to be saved, but try as I might, it just wouldn't stick. My logical mind could not fully process the narrative.
What's the take away from my experience? Well I have learned we are deeply flawed. Even though we have the capacity to unravel the mysteries of the universe with our logical brains we are still often driven to making important decision through our emotions and feelings. A ticking time bomb. I regularly observe politicians and religious leaders exploiting that emotional flaw to sow division, fear, and mistrust among us.
My hope is that we all can someday move past all that god(s) stuff or wacko ideologies and just bask in being alive and experiencing life. I mean what an amazing world we live in with all it's natural beauty. Add women and sex in to the mix and to me it's heaven.😇

All of this is significant under the Geneva conventions, which forbid military operations against hospitals unless “they are used to commit, outside their humanitarian duties, acts harmful to the enemy”. This exception, spelled out in article 19 of the fourth Geneva convention, states specifically: “… the presence of small arms and ammunition taken from such combatants and not yet handed to the proper service, shall not be considered to be acts harmful to the enemy”.

In religion today, old virtues like kindness, generosity, service, acceptance and love of all life, etc. is lost. People just use religion today to feel good about themselves or even be self righteous assholes imposing their own ideas and views on others. I once worked for a company, where my boss was the owner and she claimed time and again to be a person with deep faith in god and went to church every Sunday with her family. But in her business, she deliberately sought out undocumented workers, so she could make them work harder and underpay them. She was also racist to boot, treating me differently from other colleagues, because I was not her race and the others were. I didn't stay long there.
