Would sex work get decriminalized in BC if Canadians provinces become US states

You are partly correct and partly incorrect.
There are jurisdictions, some of which are federal, some that are state, and some are county.
Many of these jurisdictions overlap.
I believe that the prostitution laws of Nevada are legalized at the county level, and not state or federal, although state or federal laws can still be adopted.
In the US, if 2 neighbouring states have legal cannabis, federal law prevents you from carrying that cannabis from one state to the other, even though it is legal in both of the states. So you are unable to sell cannabis in Washington state, that was grown in Oregon state.
Canada and the US are not that different in regard to law and jurisdiction.
Ok Thank you for clarifying this. There's one thing I didn't get regarding legalization of Cannabis. Here in Canada legalizing Cannabis involved not only changing criminal law but also changing Health Canada regulations because there are rules how legal Cannabis is sold and dosage etc.
The equivalent of health Canada in the US is Food and Drug Administration which also falls under federal jurisdiction. So how Food and Drug Administration deal with different Cannabis laws across different states ?

My understanding is federally in both canada and the US, Cannabis has a clasification so that it is treated as a controlled substance, whereby, the states simply legalize it for certain uses.
Perhaps someone else can give better detail on this.

It's illegal in the US, so it's not regulated. At least federally. For now, the federal government simply turns a blind eye to it. States can impose whatever regulations they like, for the most part.

So why BC wasn't able to legalize Cannabis without the approval of federal governement?

Goes back to the power the provinces have, and powers that the federal government have. Criminal law mainly falls under federal law.

This 51 state that people are talking about, there would have to be a vote in Canada. Economically it would hurt the states as much as Canada if there was going to be a economic trade war.
The first thing to do is shut down Aluminum production...That would hurt their airplane economy. Then cut off electricity from Canada (quebec sell alot to NY state).

Again this is Trump trying to deflect issues. Sticking a knife into Trudeau's back because he is on his way out of politics.

So for clarification - All 45 police services and the RCMP have signed the "Lowest Level of Enforcement Policy" in BC....we already have defacto decriminalization here....the police only care about violence against sex workers and exploitation in particular of youth...adult consensual transactions are not a priority for enforcement here...we are closer in this province to full decrim than anywhere on the continent...

Not really as long the laws remain on the books cops can take action based on complaints of the neighbours don't want this business next door.
There are many other legal issues for example a landlord can evict a sex worker who has no chance of winning the dispute at BC Residential Tenancy Branch because the landlord has a good case against the tenant involved in an illegal activity. In countries like Australia and NZ where sex work is decriminalized sex workers are protected from eviction, even hotel managers cannot prevent them from doing their business.

Ten provinces join the US? Fuck, Quebec doesn't even want to be part of Canada. I don't think they would go.

Trudeau governement brought to the country millions of indians who would love the idea of joining the US. I'm pretty sure that over 90% of them would vote yes for this proposal. Some of them moved from the US because they couldn't get green card. Also many of them came here to use Canada as the backdoor to immigrate to the US because it's easier to get NAFTA work visa with a canadian passport.

Apparently they want to ban porn, so I'm quessing no to liberalizing sexwork laws:

More than a dozen states have passed new laws that led to restrictions on pornography. Now, the Supreme Court will weigh in

"The explosion of new laws in recent years has been pushed by groups associated with Project 2025, a controversial conservative policy blueprint written in anticipation of Trump’s second term. Project 2025’s more than 900-page policy memo declares that “pornography should be outlawed,” argues that “the people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned” and says companies that “facilitate its spread should be shuttered.”

In a hidden-camera video released last year by a British journalism nonprofit, one of the document’s co-authors, former Trump administration official Russell Vought, discussed the legislative strategy for banning pornography.

Vought, who is set to return to government in Trump’s second term, says in the video that “we’d have a national ban on pornography if we could.” But instead of such a drastic action, which would likely be unpopular and unconstitutional, he suggested using laws aimed at restricting porn for minors as a way to target the adult industry.

“We’ve got a number of states that are passing this and, you know, what happens is the porn company then says, ‘we’re not going to do business in your state,’ which of course is entirely what we were after, right?” Vought said. “We’re doing it from the back door, starting with the kids.” A spokesperson for Vought did not respond to a request for comment this week."

Remember this from February?

"A future Conservative government would change the law to require that porn websites verify the age of users to prevent minors from accessing the content, Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre signalled on Wednesday.

When asked whether his government would require that porn websites verify the age of users, Poilievre gave a one-word answer: "Yes."

He didn't offer further explanation and his office quickly followed up with a statement asserting that the Tories don't believe in the imposition of a digital ID."

Following in the footsteps of their brotherhood down south?

Current conservative governments or maybe better put current right wing governments have pushed way further right than I thought they would. To the point of having fascism getting pretty close and imposition of strong ideology on the masses. How many states in the US have already banned porn sites? 12? more? That opening screen when you click on anything sex related asking if you are under 18 is just the start in my opinion. If it comes to putting a real ID down, how many are going to do that. One heck of a digital footprint being left.
As oldshark notes, PP is playing to the far right in this regard, his party trying to play to the less far right by making that statement but I figure more and more restrictions forced by the far right are coming. More excuse to keep on pooning while access is still good.

Let's keep in mind the CPC and GOP are not conservative. They are far-right populists who appeal mainly to the uneducated and the stupid.

The Harper regime brought in draconian prostitution laws that were shot down by the supreme court. I expect Poilievre try again and include attacks on porn, but this time they'll use the notwithstanding clause to protect them from the courts.

Remember the good old days when the main focus of “Conservatives” and “Republicans” was to keep government small and let people live their own lives? Crookedmember is exactly right, these parties are (mostly Christian) Ideologues who want to impose their beliefs on others. They hope the masses won’t notice that they wan’t to take away peoples rights instead of improving them. Freedom? the exact opposite is their goal.

Crazy how prostitution is illegal between two consenting adults for the exchange of money in most states in America but when it comes to the adult industry being paid to film sexual acts with consenting adults its legal. Scenes are shot in many of the same areas that escorts could be working out of. That motel with a sting operation setup could have a party of upstanding folks going at it in room 49 where they are being paid to have sex on camera to create content for hillbillycooters.com. Even in the porn industry with all the right documents being on record for each performer it still doesnt change the sex for the exchange of money fact that puts escorting in America in such illegal territory.

The online xxx adult industry is filled with consenting American women selling themselves and getting paid for their sex work on camera with consenting knowns or randoms without the worry of facing charges. Whats the big difference between getting paid to work as a sex provider out of a condo or a hotel compared to getting paid to have sex on camera in the adult industy? Even with the legality differences Its still done for the exchange of money in the xxx adult industry. Knock away all the fear factor outrage and what we have left are at two consenting adults exchanging goods for pleasure. This has been going on since the beginning of the human race. Even apes before we evolved to humans were exchanging bananas for sexual pleasures.

I think the main difference between porn and my kind of sex work is everything is on paper so the government can get paid their taxes and they think the women are safer. I don’t think they counted on only fans or amateur porn when they made porn legal.

But they’re also trying to make porn illegal. Americans are weird that’s for sure.
