Everywhere in BC
Or we just become another failed US proxy state, like Puerto Rico, and nothing will matter whether prostitution is illegal or not...

If Canada join the US as Trump suggested it would join as new 10 states. Unlike Canadian provinces, US states manage their own criminal laws. So would sex work become legal if BC becomes a US state ?
The proposal is Canada joins as 1 state, not 10.

I was going to say, there isn't even any state that I know of that's legalized anything like that. So no, I'd say that the chances are practically nil.

If we become American, I will raise my rates to coincide with the chances of getting a criminal record and having to take time off to go to jail. I think my rates times 10 might make jail worth it. Maybe I’ll move to Maine lol. I don’t want to move to Vegas. Dry air is horrible for your skin and hair. When I was in Vegas working, my hair had to have so much product in it to keep from being straw.

Sheesh. What a crazy time we’re living in.

In the few counties in Nevada where prostitution is legal, the costs are either really quite high if you want a good looking SP or you pay low and get a SP who should have quit years ago. Part of the reasons the charges are so high is that the brothel where it is allowed takes half. Then the girl has to pay taxes and 'tips' to the staff from her half. In some cases, the girl in the rural counties get a 1/4 of the fee. In Vegas and Reno, they need to keep up the fees to bribe the cops, pay the lawyers, etc. I lived in Nevada for a while and although it is a better place than most states it is still a shit show compared to Canada.

It's way less complicated to join as 10 states as the former canadian provinces will keep their existing institutions when they tranistion to become US states. It's a huge mess to merge 10 provinces into a single state and Donlad Trump wouldn't care if Canada join as a 10 states or a single state as long it will be under US jurisdiction in either case.
Also this would balance the votes as Alberta and prairies provinces would vote republican , Ontario would probably be a swing state, instead of a single big state that always vote democrat.

I expect nothing to change.
Canadians added to the US electorate would DEMicize the voter pool too much for this to be viable. A majority of canadians would be opposed to this, while most Americans are too naive about the situation to have any real opinion.
West coast states would secede rather than attempt to join "Canada". They are far more likely to get their energy requirements satisfied, as an independent state rather than a Canadian Province.
EDIT: As far as how Canadians would vote; Canadians are far left compared to the US, and Conservative voters are not necessarily aligned with republicans.

if Canada joined as 10 states this would balance the votes . Alberta and prairies provinces would vote republican , Ontario would probably be a swing state . The US west coast is more to the left compared to some parts of Canada ( Alberta and Prairies provinces ). So you cannot make it a general rule. Harper was definitely more to the right and more socially conservative compared to Obama and Biden. He opposed gay mariage when it was legalized under the liberals while Obama and Biden supported gay mariage.
In general canadians share similar mentality as the neighbouring states for example BC has similar culture as Washington state and Oregon , same thing with Maritimes provinces VS New England, prairies vs Montana and North Dakota.

Ontario for one is more left leaning than you think, and is the second largest influence in the country.
Quebec because of population would still have a VERY significant influence.
BC would be the third most influential also left leaning.
I can assure you that Manitoba does not lean anywhere remotely close to North Dakotas Right Wing views.
johnywalker87, I believe you have a simplistic view of how we align with the US, when in fact there are HUGE differences in how we view and approach different problems.
EDIT: Saskatchewan and Alberta would be the only potentially consistent republican voting pool in the entire country, and I don't know if you noticed neither of them would hold much sway in the US because of their relatively low populous.

Looking back at your "10 states would balance the votes" statement.
You do realize that the number of Senate seats and Congress seats a state has are determined by how many people live in the state?
How do you perceive the balance to occur?

I see you're commited to gaming out this fantasy to completion. The other states of the union would be diluting their power by 20% if they allowed 10 or more new states, so its doubtful.

*Maybe* a re-org into 3 or 4 states but even then the partisan counterinsurgency of proudly Canadian folks would take a big toll.

I think this has derailed and this thread of conversation should probably shift over to the Canadian political thread.
