I just saw this, glad you made it! Near miraculous.
A few years ago we had a guy drop collapse at work from that, he did not survive.

Wild it being 8.5 cm only symptom was a pulsing near my navel my Doc initially thought small and follow for awhile but not me. I knew of evar..but he laughed and said you're too young (60) and to healthy we're goin open. A friend's wife went down with a TAA and survived 14 hours of sugery and then threw a clot. I was lucky twice, but Doc says luck has nothing to do with it. I go for annual physicals and follow up.

When one blows its almost always lights out.

Over 60 screening for aneurysms would save a lot of lives. Any one drops and dies out ifbthe blue would almost guarantee a AAA or TAA

Luigi wasn't the first and there might be a LOT more.
America is rapidly turning into pre revolutionary France.
Don't fear people who have a lot to lose.
Fear people who have nothing to lose.

When Trump's followers wake up and realise he doesn't give a shit about them they're going to be pissed.
"Fear people who have nothing to lose"
Do you mean people like Luigi? The rich kid who was roughing it in Hawaii before he went to New York to shoot that guy in the back. Brave!
As far as equating life in the US right now to life in pre revolutionary France, I can only assume that you are kidding. There are plenty of history books out there and anyone can read them. France was bankrupt, there were shortages of food and they were under direct threat of foreign invasion. This is not the current situation in the US.

Healthy food is too expensive relative to wages, and if you listen to conservatives the US is bankrupt *and* under foriegn invasion by illegals ....

So not that much different than pre-revolutionary France.

The burden of proof rests on the individual making the claims.

You have said that he was lying. That means:

YOU have to provide proof backing up your claim.

If you cannot produce evidence, then your claim is baseless.
Hey, theres a mysterious virus outbreak if Africa right now. They dont know what it is but its killed 78.

Would you go there without protective gear? If you had to be there, would you not get vaccinated if it was available?

This was the situation for the covid virus. The mistake was giving in to non-essential businesses to carve out exceptions to isolation..places like Hollywood and Fast Food restos.

Off topic….masks and social distancing.
In hindsight ! Everybody forgets the reasons behind the decision making at the time and it's not even 5 years .

Face mask gave some a false sense of security but it was never a protection device, it was a attempt to minimize the spreading of an airborne virus same for social distancing.

What should have been made clear by the government bodies and agencies responsible and just after a few weeks in March of 2024 was that people overweight, elders , cardiac and immune vulnerable people were the most at risk .

Healthy food being too expensive is not the same as famine. Despite it's massive deficit, the US is still the richest country and the most powerful economy in the world. The illegal immigration crisis does not equate to being under threat of invasion by Austria and Prussia.
Of course there's poverty, hunger and homelessness in the US, but to compare it to conditions in pre revolutionary France is not close to being realistic.

True, and the peasentry in the US dosen't quite seem to have that je-ne-sais-quoix.

The situation in the US seems closer to Rome at end of empire - turning inwards, more and more entrenched corruption, someone who fiddles while it all burns, etc..

Contiuing on the historical comparison track, this was a good comment from reddit:

"
If it’s any consolation to anyone, think of it this way: Trump didn’t break/isn’t breaking the traditionally democratic system we’ve supposedly always had. Trump is really a symptom of an existing breakdown in the rule of law, the legitimacy of federal institutions, and the social contract binding Americans within a liberal democratic system of government. This is the end stage of a republic that has long since failed to deliver on the promise of a better future: a cartoonishly corrupt, criminal, carnival barking charlatan demagogue using populist rhetoric to inflame passions, with no plans in office other than to enrich himself and seek retribution against his enemies.

Trump didn’t break this system; he is exploiting a broken system to his advantage. He’s on the verge of overthrowing that broken system in its entirety to replace it with an even more corrupt, unjust, dictatorial, arbitrary and cronyist system meant only to advance his singular goals and ambitions. This happens again and again throughout history, and after these last few decades, it should surprise no one that it’s finally happening here in America too.

Reddit is my go to spot when I feel like reading the miscellaneous ramblings of psuedo intellectual armchair experts. For the use useful idiots on the left, Trump is the alpha and omega of everything that's wrong or bad in the world. If only things were that simple.

i'd suggest the problem started when Regan got rid of the Fairness doctrine 1987. that allowed the political machines to manipulate peoples minds with ever greater detail and control without interruption. now that most people have the internet then its a whole new ballgame that will only ever magnify the problem.

“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum — even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.” - Noam Chomsky

and thus you get 50% of the people who think that DEI, trans rights etc is more important than the corporate tax rate getting cut in half and the $10 trillion dollar payday for the richest just being tacked on to the national debt while the bottom half of the population are living on table scraps.

the ideological right priests are winning this game. the ideological left priests simply didn't have anyone who was as tenacious and willing to consistently scare the shit out of people with claims that the country is on fire. and maybe they never will because they believe that humans are logical.

Thats an absolute falsehood, there is a bunch more villiany on the right i bitch about. Desanctimonious, Mitch McTurtle, The Supremes, Munsterilliani, MTGoon, Blowbert, Manchinocchio, See-mah, CryinMyPillow guy, VincyMcNoman, UncleFesterMcbee, Ken NoFaxt9n, Sheriff IDontKnow, .. the list goes on.

But on a serious note, if you're claiming that the ludicrous statements the righty psudo-human pundits are putting forward these days are of a higher degree then I'd say you're lacking perspective in any form. Even George Will called out the MAGA movement as disingenious bullshit grifitng.

Like I said previously, I’m a duel citizen and lived in Toronto for ten straight years. During that time, I got in a bad motorcycle collision. I was stabilized, but had to wait 3 months to see an orthopedic surgeon. I was driven 50 miles across the border and received surgery within 48 hours. I also have additional first hand experience with free medical care. Regardless, I don’t know if Trump will fulfill all of his promises, but I do know that since he was elected, gasoline dropped below $3 per gallon for the first time in 3.5 years. One of my neighbors is a big shot at Shell. He said that unless Biden screws up AMWR, gas will be under $2 per gallon by mid 2026. Hopefully with a drop in energy prices, everything will stabilize and not increase in price. I am told, my primary residence is worth well over a million dollars. I just received my property tax for 2025 and it is $3506. The house is in Idaho, a deep red state. I also own a house in California, it is valued at $800k, property tax is $12322. California is a deep blue state. Gasoline in California is over a dollar more per gallon and my income tax rate in Idaho is less than half of what it is in California. It is amazing the differences between two states. All that aside, hopefully Trump will bring Ford and Dodge back to Michigan. I also hope he will do as promised and even out the trade deficit. Not only with Canada, with everyone, except probably China. I also hope he pulls support from Ukraine and either makes NATO countries pay 2%, or America withdrawals. In which, case, NATO will collapse. It is an antiquated idea anyway. Back to taxes. Regardless of the fake news, the last time Trump was President he passed the largest tax cut in history…..for everyone. It’s all the same tax break, poor, rich, it doesn’t matter. He made a fixed amount of everyones income exempt from tax. Americas Social Security is socialism. Thankfully I was not required to contribute, but here are the numbers. My friend earned over $200k and was forced to contribute to SS for 33 years. During that time he contributed between $15k and $22k per year. At 62, his award is $2233 per month. If he put that in an S&P Index fund, he would have close to 3 million dollars. Now back to Canada not living off the American taxpayer. The only reason Canada does not contribute 2% to NATO, your government knows, due to geography, the US will protect them. the trade deficit is another and Ford and Dodge should be American Jobs. Those three things alone are billions of dollars and if Republicans keep all three branches, I hope we will get additional tax cuts. Especially if other countries are forced to support themselves. Trump has two years before the midterms, I will be happy if he keeps 10% of his promises.

did everybody get their tax rate cut in half? did all those tax deductions get paid for? what about that $10 trillion dollar addition to the national debt?

you're comparing taxes between Idaho and California? why not just compare taxes between New York and Afghanistan? nobody lives in Idaho. if California was a country then it would have the 5th largest economy in the world. the infrastructure to maintain such an economy costs money.

what about the 25 million people who don't have health insurance. how quickly do they get referrals to orthopaedic surgeons?

Trump is already waffling on Ukraine. he's not going to have it solved on day one. the Ukrainians are not going to give up and Trump will look like a fool supporting Putin if he storms Kyiv forcing millions of refugees into Europe. the US will be weak. Trump will be weak. and the US will not get any economic opportunities in the Ukraine.

NATO is not going to collapse anymore that the EU is going to collapse. no, all thats going to happen is that the EU military industry will grow like crazy and the US military industry will loose that income. not sure what is "antiquated" about an organization that was given birth by the need to protect against Russian agression when its currently doing just that at the moment!

if you put your own money in the S&P then you'd make more money then giving it to social security. its insurance. its not the best for people making $200k a year or more! its for people making less than $50k a year or more who have no disposable income to put into the stock market. same with fire and auto insurance. the non-risky finance the risky.

Canada is not living off of the American tax payer. we have surplus that we sell. but i'm not worried about it. Trump is waffling on tariffs already. "reciprocal" is the word he's using now! LOL! we all know what that means. i do hope that Ford and Dodge move back to Michigan so that we can make a deal with the Chinese to remove tariffs on cheap electric vehicles in exchange for building auto plants here in Canada to produce those vehicles. if we can do it for the US then we can do it for China!

look, its just too easy to rebut the Trump/GOP version of reality. with Democrats its pretty slim picking. social justice stuff? who cares! you are a rich man. you might not feel like it but you are far above the median US net worth. if you were 10 times richer you would feel the same except you would have more stuff. thats not going to make you feel happier. for decades the social sciences have empirically measured happiness and its a pretty simple thing. its a known quantity. the happiest are those that live in happy societies. ones where the difference between rich and poor is lower. ones in which everyone feels they have a piece of the action. i get that you don't want to pay the medical bills of the guy who pumps your gas. but somebody has to pump your gas and if that guy is suddenly homeless because his rich landlord has found someone who can pay more than he can afford for housing then... does that make you happier?

if you voted for Trump then you are going to be doing fine. its the bottom half who are not and you can expect more homelessness and more people looking for "hand outs" because of it. the Democrats have been helpless to stop the rich from getting richer and the poor getting more poor for decades. and the GOP, well, thats their MO.

and now the waffling begins... he's not even in office yet.

5 takeaways from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago press conference

The polio vaccine, Eric Adams and more media lawsuits: Donald Trump’s freewheeling Mar-a-Lago press conference

doesn't look much is going to change if you ask me. but i can't predict the future. he's getting the phone calls from big money that the election is over and to chill the fuck out.

i do like the criticism being levelled at pesticides and the health of US citizens. is Trump really going to stand up to Big Agriculture? will he toss all farmers out the window without a rope? should be interesting!

Trump will come down heavy on daylight savings time and those damned federal workers working from home! saving all of those tax dollars by not needing office buildings... hang on!? isn't Trump an office building owner? hmm....

the GOP house is still a gong show and will be till the mid terms.

Johnson faces brewing GOP rebellion after farm aid deal collapses

“While the Liberals fight with each other, I believe we should be fighting for Canadians jobs at risk from Donald Trump’s tariffs,” Singh said in a statement.

You can smoke all the weed you want, but Canada does not stand a chance in a tariff war, which is the reason the finance minister resigned and the Trudeau flew to Florida to lick Trumps ass. Justin didn’t fly to Florida for the weather, Trudeau still has shit on his tongue. There are tons of articles written about it, above is just one. I don’t care about the people without health insurance, most of them could have joined the Marines and got an education, as I did. As every seasoned investor knows, whomever deals with China, sleeps with the devil. Have you ever bought a quality Chinese product? Social Security was originally designed to supplement retirement, but over the years it turned into a welfare program to feed drug addicts and those that refuse to work, or improve themselves so they do not need others to support them. If people want insurance, buy an annuity. There is absolutely no reason a person should, without litigation, be forced to pay anything to another individual. That is socialism in a nutshell. Work, earn money and live within your means, pretty simple. Will you pay for me to hookup with an escort? Think about what Biden called student loan forgiveness. It is actually a student loan transfer. Because of your post I can tell you have limited financial knowledge, so I will explain it. Just like most mortgages, student loans are packaged together (normally bonds) and sold to investors, which is backed by the government. If a person doesn’t pay, the government pays the investors that purchased the loans. Somebody must pay the government money so it can pay the investors (taxes). The loans were never just wiped clean. That means other people, whom paid for their own student loan, must pay for a complete strangers student loan. That is just one example, now calm down and learn how money works!

Trump has two years before the midterms, I will be happy if he keeps 10% of his promises.

your friend is getting ripped off, saw something that said the maximum was 168,000 and at the max you'd get 3800 roughly after 35 yrs

either that or he's lying to you, is he related to Turmp? lol

you should adjust your delusions and shoot for 1% of promises kept, even that is dreaming

and Nato won't collapse, they'll just wait out the Orange man like the last time

it's hardly outdated, it's needed more now than ever

the only good thing about the Orange man is making the others step up from his last time with threats

Ukraine is a bargain, the U.S. is spending pennies, all of which is going into their own economy, the U.S's

to their defence industry, so with their bloated industry, it makes no sense to stop funding Ukraine, it means US jobs

if you really wanted tax cuts, then you'd have to want defence cuts

of which neither party is about to do
