As an American, I can confirm. Back when Bush Junior got elected, I thought it was evidence enough that Americans were morons. And it's only gotten more pronounced since then. Dramatically so.
Looking back at George Bush jr he doesn’t seem half bad in comparison. I always gave him credit that he could fly an F 102 from his days in the air national guard. I don’t know if trump even knows how to drive a car.

the Democrats, depending on how effectively they rebuild.

Now, here’s a thought: how exciting would it be if Jon Stewart entered the fray? Imagine the debates, the energy, the buzz. You heard it here first, fellow political enthusiasts—Jon Stewart for 2032!
considering they won't accept reality, adapt, change, are just doubling down on the same shit that lost them all 3, it doesn't look good

specially if the Rep ever get back to reality and choose a normal Rep again

and Jon Stewart, while he at least understands why they lost

I watched him the other day, he's still too left on certain things too

the Dems need to go back to a normal Center Liberal too, otherwise, the U.S. is going to continue down the Banana Republic slide a while longer

and the world will unfortunately pay for it

I'm an American as well, and I’ve seen how the political landscape shifts over time. I understood Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, and Obama (both terms), whether it was due to their opponents or the broader mood of the country at the time. I do agree with you on Bush Jr.—I never quite got that one.

The funny thing about society is things will get so whacky and ridiculous on one side that when the pendulum swings it will snap back way further in the opposite direction than you want.
I curious to see how this plays out. Some things will be good and others not so much.
As for calling Americans morons—well, maybe some deserve it. But let’s not forget, even in the True North, there are some questionable choices. After all, someone had to vote Trudeau into office
Have to agree with your post....but let's remember, in the True North it only takes just over a third of us to elect a questionable character, not a half. Plus, roughly half of that third are hanging around Quebec...enough said. Then there is the factor that to us all Americans are Southerners.

It’s all true. The Democratic Party is no longer the party I grew up with. Over the years, it has strayed from its roots, evolving into a war-mongering, corporate-backed vehicle for the establishment, masked by social identity politics. This shift is part of the reason why polls favoring Harris were so far off. The party has gradually alienated the hardworking, everyday people who simply want the best for their families and communities—people who were once center-left but have since shifted to the center-right, quietly voting Republican.

For many, Trump symbolized “change,” a shot at a better life, and common-sense values that resonated on a personal level. In contrast, Harris struggled to connect, coming across as a manager of the status quo rather than a visionary leader.

Even prominent figures who were once staunch Democrats have jumped ship in favor of common sense:
• Donald Trump – Former Democrat
• Elon Musk – Former Democrat
• Tulsi Gabbard – Former Democrat
Since 2000, over 80 state legislators have also made the switch.

To be fair, Harris did have some notable Republican supporters, including Dick Cheney—Halliburton chairman and a symbol of the war machine—and his daughter, who shares his values. But that alignment only reinforced the perception of her as part of the establishment.

The pendulum has swung the other way. Maybe it’s time to embrace a new direction and give it a chance.

i'd suggest there is nothing logical about putting Donald Trump and "common sense" in the same sentence. and the rest just know who's winning and what's best for their bottom line. when Elon takes Donald to one of his rocket launches do you think he's not looking out for his bottom line?

i'd additionally argue that Harris just wasn't able to tell the necessary story, and easily churn out logical arguments. possibly because she has not had that much time to practice those chops and was thrust into campaign mode so abruptly. not sure why she didn't have the necessary people to help her prepare either.

its really the right wing ideology/religion messengers who are winning. the populist priests are getting more airtime with the contingent of the electorate that matter.

the economy is historically top of concern for voters and the right wing priests had people convinced that there was actually something wrong with the economy. the fact is that the economy has never been better and the US population has never been better off. the fact that popular sentiment does not reflect that is the power of the message people were getting exposed too along with the rise in day to day costs that were mostly covered by higher wages on average. but indeed, lower income rural types are going to be getting less of the pie as usual.

Patrick Boyle - The Truth About the US Economy!

and i've argued all along that nothing Trump says about the economy is going to do anything for low income rural types. crypto? tariffs? NOT. in fact, i'm calling it now... that Trump uses tariffs to finance renewing the Trump tax cuts so that he won't be adding another $7T to the national debt or worse... and thus truly stealing from the poor to give to the rich.

Oh, look, Matt Gaetz did what he does best: pulled out.

Must be because he was so innocent.
That was a con all along. These are not serious people. It's a distraction for what they really want which is to continue to erode faith in the institutions that some what keep them in check. They can plunder and line their pockets. While telling you they will make it all better and doing nada just like his last term.

Its worse than doing nada -they'll work towards setting up future grift for their cronies. Look at the telacom/internet rulings, the overtime requirement rulings, etc.

Where it will be interesting is where there is obvious conflict within the cabal - Tesla/electric cars vs. The old oil guys & car co's comes to mind.
