It’s a double-edged sword. When their top players are flying around like that the only way to stop them is to take a penalty which means based on their PP in the playoffs the Canucks would have no chance. The Canucks need to be way better at winning face offs and clearing the puck out of our zone so the Oilers can’t set up. I also thought it was a lost opportunity to get to their goalie who looked off all night. Two out of our three goals were bad goals. Based on the two games 1-1 is probably a fair result.

No excuses, oilers controlled that 3rd but the refs were horrible, at least 3 missed calls, 1 being the Kane slew foot on Hughes led to McDavid scoring a cpl mins later

I agree and a lot of goal post luck. Should have been an Oiler win. Side note* My gut is telling me that Zadorov is going to get suspended for the next game for cross checking McDavid in the after game scrum. Dumb play by Zadorov but it was in retaliation for McDavid chopping Sousy. I just watched it again. Sousy cross-check to the neck was even worse. One of them will be suspended for sure. Hope a I am wrong. 😑

Soucy's cross was only bad because McCrybaby dove to his knees from Zaddys check. Had he not dropped that would have hit him square in the chest.

Zadorov was fined the max. I don’t think there is a suspension. Soucy is having a hearing today. In the ‘Protect our Superstars Category’ McDavid will get nothing for swinging his stick at Soucy. Typical NHL.
Too bad that kind of end of game shit happened. Not defending anyone here but no one knows the kind of shit either team may be handing out in the corners, in close, behind the refs backs and so on. These guys are amped up playing at a level that only a tiny fraction of the sporting world can achieve and no doubt sometimes the bullshit gets to them. IMO, the fine to Zadorov was appropriate and Soucy should be fined and suspended for a game, if anything to protect him from retribution. Zadorov is big enough he can handle himself for what no doubt will be coming.
All this aside, man oh man, the Canucks stick play and disciplined formation is next level. To stop the onslaughts that the Oil are delivering is pretty remarkable. One can argue about the number of posts being hit but that just shows the tiny bit of room being allowed with the back checking putting the Oilers just that much outside a good shot and Silov playing a Con Smyth performance. I think this series is going 7 with each game a one goal differential and quite possibly overtime.

I have no problem with the discipline given to our players today. Could have gone a lot worse given it was McDavid.
On that topic, how can they ignore McDavid’s high stick on Quinn Hughes. The Ref was looking at the blood on his face but never made the call. Bare minimum it should have been a double minor. Look at the slow motion from this clip and you’ll see it was intentional.

Best part of that clip is the commentary trying to explain that the best stick handler in the league lost control of his stick, which is what contributed to the high stick 🙄
McDrasti is all they got, they are playing half the game and if one does not get on the scoreboard the game is won for the Canucks. The goalie situation is dire for them too.
