Time- I bought time.

about a year ago I realized I need to change some thing in life. So I was bought out at work and then I used that freedom to buy time to enjoy my life.
I’m less stressed, in better health. Experience life and new things everyday and create new adventures.

It’s not an easy thing to do but it was so worth it.
If you don't mind me asking, what made you realize? And why wasn't it an easy thing to do?

Sounds like you made a very good purchase.

For me, I'm free from any financial woes...but idle hands...see my post above.

A bicycle! I've been cycling for 30 plus years It keeps me fit, saves me money and the planet, and I have spent countless pleasant hours lost in my thoughts on road trips.
Cheapest physical and mental therapy money can buy.:)
I've heard people say the same thing about motorbikes too. I think there's just something about moving that is therapeutic. The act of getting from point A to point B, where really the destination doesn't matter.
Same reason I love driving, without the physical benefits, but I can crank my stereo to Hall and Oates and Nickelback as loud as I want.

Maybe volunteer? If money isn't an issue SPCA, Big Brother, Salvation Army, etc,.
With the warmer weather coming in, a run or walk club would be good chance to get out of the house.

Anyone that is thinking of retiring, plan for your retirement on more than a financial level. Sitting around watching Netflix and Youtube is only good for a bout 18 months.

This thing is amazing, I mounted a heavy duty platform on it, the wheels are close together so its very easy to turn, it hauls amazing weight over rough uneven terrain, saved my back big time, I love it!

A really good mattress and a solid as a rock bed frame. It cost me a ridiculous amount of money but the difference in my sleep from day one was phenomenal. Every time I sleep somewhere else I realise how freaking good it is.

If you spend 8 hours a night in your mattress, and 2 hours commuting to work in your car, the amount of money spent on the mattress should be 4 times that of your car... A good night's sleep is invaluable. That goes for peace of mind as well as a good mattress.

If that collapsed I would totally get it. But the wheels are just too big for my storage.

A good dolly is also incredibly useful. Your back will thank you the first time you have to move heavy shit.

Swiss Army knife.

I’ve carried one in my pocket for decades.
It has saved my life a few times.
(OK, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit).
I just saw a video a few days ago about how to use the reamer with sewing eye. Did not even think that's what it was used for.

An electric screw driver / drill combo. Cannot count the number of screws and holes drilled across the last many years thanks to this combo. Seriously, this purchase made at Home Depot many moons ago has definitely hands down, been one of the best purchases made.

A few things really but some friends and family pointed out some traits that I realized were not right.
So I started a diff business that is fun, I get to work when and where I want and have totally readjusted life.

I think I knew I was not in a great space but it was a couple of chats that clarified it for me. I’m financially fine and no worries there now or long term but as you said idle hands.

I've had a car since I was 17. I've tried really hard to give up on cars and thought about using rideshares and uber and public transit but... I just love driving too much. I know it's terrible for the environment, and I'm single passenger, and yada yada but can't beat those night drives at 3am while the city sleeps... I only wish we had a better deli culture in Vancouver.

Also, ride share users are animals. They treat a shared resource like their personal storage locker and waste bin...
For a decently large city, Vancouver sucks for late night food options apart from McD's, Denny's, Breka, Duffin's on the weekend only. I once visited my friend in Calgary and he took me to a solid Chinese restaurant which was open til 4 am. (Oh yeah I guess there is Number 9 in Richmond, but cash only).
