Is “this” reserved to rich people only?

Is meeting a sex worker an activity reserved for rich people?

Do you feel like booking an escort is a luxury?
I know it isn’t cheap as most people charge a lot more than minimum wage per hour yet we have clients from all backgrounds (more modest jobs and very well paid).

Can you afford your needs or do you need to save a little before finally being able to book someone?

Do you wonder how other people afford to book multiple people every month?

I am asking all these questions because I am curious. Please stick to your own experience and do not mention anyone by their name. Sex workers are allowed to charge whatever they want.

Seeing a sex worker is definitely a luxury not everyone can afford it.

In my experience, I do save up to see them since I am not wealthy but I'm lucky that I have no debt so I can see my regular at least once a month and any leftover I can see someone else.

If I didn't have a good job then I definitely couldn't afford it.

It's a luxury today. It might not have always been that way, but certainly is now. The attitude among some guys is they seem stuck in 1999 or maybe 2010 when rates were more accessible to more people. They got very used to paying a certain amount and seeing multiple ladies per month. Rates in many cases have doubled since COVID and they are having sticker shock. If you are paying a premium and getting premium service, then no issues from 99% of guys, they can save up and make an appointment and be happy with the results. Complications arise when they save up, pay the new rates and are greeted with less than stellar service. Pay X and getting disappointed is one thing, paying 2 or 3x and having the same disappointment stings much more.

I believe most agree the ladies should charge whatever they like, what leads to the # of bookings they want to have and pays their bills. If a higher rate = higher/better service, I don't think there would be an issue. It doesn't always reflect that, leading to disgruntled pooners. The sense of entitlement from some guys doesn't help, ignoring changing times and cost of living. The sense of entitlement goes both ways, there are some truly insane takes about clients out there on Twitter from providers these days, carefully hidden behind anonymous accounts where they share their real feelings about their clients. It's not a great read, if you are a guy who actually cares about the opinion of your provider and doesn't want to be seen or treated like a POS.

Lastly, the explosion of rip off artists and scammers has cast a very angry pall over the whole shooting match. Guys were willing to spend a little to TOFTT in the past, but when 50% or more of ads are fake, cynicism reigns supreme and is cast on all providers, legit or not, regardless of rates, but extra cynical for a premium price point. Just my thoughts, opinions are my own, not of PERB.

I think most can afford a session at least once in (perhaps a very long) while. Having regular, lengthier sessions is most definitely for the well to do.

For the majority of men in this hobby I doubt they perceive it to be a luxury item that requires any saving up for. Men have always borne the expenses of chasing and providing for women. All we have ever done is make money to get women.

The financial impact is most likely negligible when compared to the costs previous generations of men endured to date and provide for a family.

The market of dating apps, escorts, onlyfans and sugar relations is perfectly tailored to our basest wants. It permits men to be polygamous without the financial burdens.

A man doesn’t need to be rich to do so. He just needs to be single and without children.

I wish I could participate more often but especially over the last year my budget has been tight and pooning has definitely been a luxury and maybe event a bit of a sacrifice. I’ve gone from monthly visits to quarterly visits. My equipment isn’t as responsive as it once was so going for less than an hour isn’t really an option.

I don't think it is reserved for the rich. Even at today's rates middle class men who prioritize this over any other hobby / expense should be able to like I do.

If it isn't already, it will be soon.
No shade on providers. They do what they need to do. On my side, I made significantly less money this year than last, and that's not counting "real" inflation yet.

I can't be the only person that does the math of "three one hour session equals to PS5 and Baulders Gate 3. That's hundreds of hours of entertainment compared to three". Fear of missing out, and "use it while I can" is what drives alot of my decision making. I think this body has a good 3 years left before I need to take up gardening or ceramics instead.

I would describe myself now as a regular working guy who used to have a high paying previous career. I'd also describe myself as the working poor. I'm in the position where I can't afford a girlfriend nor can I afford this hobby. So for me I save up and I occasionally see a sw. I find it hard to justify saving up for just a half hour or hour of fun. Back in the day when I made a lot of money I probably wouldn't have thought twice about spending the money on a sw. Mind you back then I had no problem having girlfriends as I'm attractive and also made good money. So I've been on both ends of the economic spectrum.
So when you factor in the cost of living in Greater Vancouver it doesn't leave a lot of discretionary income available for this hobby. The prices to see sw has spiraled out of control like many other goods and services. It's not just the base rates that have gone up significantly for sw but also the extra add ons that they charge. So in my opinion this hobby is more for people who have lots of disposable income and for those who can't fight the urge to see a sw despite not being able to afford it. Just my two cents worth. They should have GoFundMe accounts for guys like me so I can see a sw. Lol.

As with so many other things, it's about the life choices we make. Do I buy tickets for a game (or season tickets) for my favourite team, a big ticket concert (hello Taylor Swift), travel, a club membership, a very fine bottle of wine or a nice dinner out? Whatever your level of discretionary income, you make choices every day - and none of them are wrong. It's just the personal choice that we've made. Just my 2¢...

interesting comparison/math
Okay true. That's not good or true comparison. If we're talking about it on experiential level, a literal 7 day trip to Greece (air ticket, and hotel) is 1700.
Maybe we've been doing this wrong, we shouldn't have regulars, we should be seeing providers as once in a lifetime experiences and bring the total lifetime visits down to single digits.
