Between Covid lockdowns, problems making appointments and just life in general, I shocked myself by realizing it's been over three years since I've had STI tests done. I am usually very disciplined about regular screening, but I can't be alone in forgetting about getting tested when one doesn't have any symptoms. Now that a new year is upon us, I encourage everyone to keep regular testing on their calendars.

Just a correction - the site requires full name, residence and contact info, but it is supposed to be secure. I book at a regional health centre by phone, and they allow use of a pseudonym, and collect no personal information.
I believe you can enter anything you want. I set up my account a while back so I don’t remember the details anymore

You don’t need to have symptoms to get tested often, as many people can have an STI and have no symptoms. You should be getting tested often if you’re not monogamous, or in between partners. This helps you feel more at ease and also prevents possibly spreading something to someone else.

Before becoming a provider I have been ethically non monogamous, so for many years I have been getting tested and often. This is not just for my health, but the health of anyone I’m intimate with. I get tested even more often now. I personally feel strongly if ones is sexually active the best way to keep yourself from getting STI’s is to learn about them, and recognize physical symptoms (and avoid being intimate with anyone with possible symptoms, using protection with others, and getting tested often.

Above there is mention of get checked online. I highly recommend using it as when you go into the lab, you don’t need to give your information, just the QR code from the questions asked for your lab form, and it’s very thorough too. I would say this is more thorough than what my family doctor gets me to do for STI testing.

Also with online results you can show your results to anyone who asks. It’s a great website!

You can also go to the CDC STI clinic on 12th with a pseudonym, totally anonymous if you want/need.

Exactly why I was so lax. Usually people are reactive to a symptom, but without symptoms, it's easy to not think about getting tested.
