Anyone else fascinated by Near Death Experiences? NDE’s

There was a dark time in my life after a family member passed, and I swear the accounts of people who had a NDE on YouTube were my saving grace

there are so many earnest accounts of their experience. Some fascinating stories

I‘m curious, has anyone ever had one themselves? The closest I got to one was maybe smoking DMT when I was young. Don’t judge. Joe Rogan approved lol

I've been there a few times.

Definitely not on purpose.

Not interested in doing it ever again!

The last time I was shaking for 8 hours after. Messed up for days.

I guess I really do value my life!

My only near death experiences came from my hard drinking days years ago, Many times, I had downed enough liquor to kill me, yet never died. Now I'm working on staying clean and healthy.

Can't say I was that near, but was in a nearly head-on crash on highway up to Squamish as a kid. Some dickhead had crossed the centre-line in a corner into our lane, showing off for his GF by slicing the curve, we figured. Last moment swerve, but we still hit, and the car spun like hell, almost going off the edge and down the cliff. No seltbelt for me in the back, airbags did not exist yet, and let's just say the road barriers were much less present in those days too. You don't think about it as a little kid very much, but probably just a few degrees away from getting killed.

NDE for me is just a biological response to a combination of fear, lack of oxygen, or whatever many things happen when the body is stressed to near death. Nothing mystical or mysterious in my humble opinion.

I have watched quite a few Utube videos on the subject. One common thread is that people see Jesus or some saint waiting for them. That makes me suspicious - what do Jews do Muslims see? Have not seen any reports. However, one phenomenon that is reported regularly is that people who die on the operating table have an out of body experience. They remember being above the action, looking down at their dead body and the doctors working frantically to revive them. They can recall what happened and what was said. I have never seen any explanation of that one.

Age 12 I was playing street hockey. Neighbours across the street were building a new garage and the cement pad had been laid. It was approx 40’ to the bottom and walls had not been built yet!

I hustled to get a ball before it went out of bounds. Guess I pushed it too hard and nearly fell. Last second I had this weird feeling my time was not complete here on earth. It felt like someone grabbed me by the lapels pulling me back.

To face my fear of heights I tried Rock climbing and using the ropes helped a lot. On belay!

Now I get absolutely panicked even when I watch a movie with any scenes involving heights without safety guards. Definitely can’t watch Bond films (I look away lol) and people free climbing the Half Dome!

I've had about half a dozen near death experiences by asphyxiation, some accidental and some purposeful. I remember not remembering how to do things as I came too, must have been parts of the brain restarting.
