The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) in Vancouver has always been a symbol of the end of summer. At the end of the school year, we would receive PNE passes with our report cards.
Growing up in VanCity, I remember feeling a sense of sadness at the thought of returning to school. Even though all my friends lived in the same neighbourhood and we didn’t miss school. There was something about the end of summer that made me and others feel melancholic.
Now, as summer comes to a close once again (just over a month from today), the temperatures have finally dropped. But with the smokey air, going outside without a KN95 mask and protective eyewear can be uncomfortable and even harmful to some people’s eyes. It’s a reminder that even though summer is ending, there are still many challenges ahead.
But let’s not forget the good times we had this summer, and look forward to all that fall has to offer.
What are your favourite memories from this summer? And what are you looking forward to in the coming season?
