Eating cake in the morning - is it acceptable or not?

My ex always had a ton of rules about life. Some made sense (don't leave gaps in the dishwasher between the dishes) and some some didn't (no anal sex). Anyway, I'm over at her place this morning - we live close together and get along quite well and out kids split time between both places - and I cut myself a piece of my kids birthday cake. His birthday was a few days ago and there was lots left over. It's 10:25 am. She walks into the kitchen and BLASTS me for eating cake in the morning, says no one should eat cake before dinner time. It's not a joking kind of conversation, I had obviously done something that was an affront to nature.

So I ask you all - is eating cake in the morning an acceptable thing?

I eat leftover cake in the morning too 🍰 Strange to be yelled at about an unspoken and odd rule of dining discipline. Did you get to finish your slice at least? 😂

She might have a rule that states "the only thing you can eat first thing in the morning is hair pie"

Wow...
a) yes, it's OK to eat cake anytime, unless this is some sort of religious/social taboo which doesn't seem to be what you described
b) "not a joking kind of conversation"... hmmm, how long have you been together? This is serious "red flag" territory, people who are OCD and project their "rules" on to others can be volatile in the most inopportune ways.

Of course I finished it. I'm now cow-towing to random rules about nothingness. Plus, the cake was fantastic.

I know a good lawyer for that impending divorce.

Should be fine. I mean what the heck is pancake considered? It's pretty much cake-like just flat ...

Cake is food, and food is meant to be eaten regardless of time. Unless you don't like it.
