Burner phone or burner SIM?

PHONE SAVVY ADVICE NEEDED:
I have been using an old iPhone with a 7-11 SIM card for the last couple of years while I engage in this hobby, but playing the law of averages I'm getting nervous about my SO eventually finding my second phone while looking through my backpack or desk drawer for an extra phone charger or pen or water-bottle, etc. So I am considering ditching the second phone altogether and just keeping the burner SIM, which I could use in my regular phone when the "need" arises"
Besides being sure to log-out of my Apple ID before I take my regular SIM card out of the iPhone and replace it with the burner SIM... and making sure to chose the "no Apple ID" option when using the burner SIM... are there any other settings or issues I should be aware of?

Do I need to "erase & reset" the phone each time or will just toggling between SIM cards with or without an Apple ID be enough of a precaution... as I assume the call history from the "no Apple ID" burner SIM will not be saved when I reinstall my regular SIM and log back into my Apple ID?

Actually they can’t find that out at all. That’s near impossible for anyone to tell. I think SP say about no blocked numbers, apps are completely fine. Been using it for 5+ years now.

False. There are ways to lookup the carrier of a live number. All phone apps pull up Iristel as the carrier. Either that or VOIP, but a voip wouldn't be used to contact an SP.

Just keep your old phone, and pull the Sim out of it and hide it somewhere until you need it, and then pop it back in. Delete texts each time and I think you’re good

1. Go to twilio.
2. Register a phone number.
3. Register your address ( could be a false address doesn’t matter)
4. Use that number as voip.

Thanks anyway, but... it's amazing how people don't actually read the OP where I specifically stated that I:
a) didn't want to use a second phone
b) didn't want to use a text app
Yet all I get is advice about how to hide a second phone or install a text app, nothing about switching a SIM card, which was the only point of my post!

That's what I thought - until I used a burner app to SMS one of the better agencies that advertise on here (won't say who) and right away they ask me to contact them a non app based phone #

If I may suggest something. Just get a digital Sim on your phone, play around with it just for fun at first before offloading the old phone.

I'll do some research but I'm a little worried that an eSIM would still be more risky than physically switching my SpeakOut SIM with the one from my regular carrier, since my SO and I have a joint phone account. I wouldn't want to raise any red flags when we upgrade our phones together every couple of years or if customer service randomly phones us to check if we are happy with our account (ex. "let's just see what your current services are...", etc.) LOL
I agree that a burner phone is the safest option in some regards, but just having a second phone with a charged battery and active signal hanging around in a desk drawer or coat pocket or backpack is still running the risk of being discovered at some point, however careful I may be.

No worries. If im not mistaken you don't need to be with the same.provider for both Sims as long as your phone is unlocked. You can be with Roger's on one for example and with Freedom for another. Someone I know has both on one phone, but it's an iPhone. So not sure if it's a functionality feature of certain phone model types to allow two different providers. But just walk into a freedom mobile (for example) store and see what they can do with what you currently use. It's worth inquiring. Just say you want one for family use, a separate one for personal hobbies, and leave it at that.
