So got out this week, Tuesday I think, when it was pushing 16C and sunny and found junko playtime's spider. Pretty fucking awesome.

But while trying to find it, I walked along parts of the skytrain. The amount of garbage, old mattresses, tires, general shit was disgusting. What the fuck is wrong with people?

So then the news is that the fucking funbusters in the City of Vancouver, the home of such a wonderful political system that half the cool places have closed due to high taxes ... but I digress ... NEED to take this down because it has "offended" the civilians. Probably 3 or 4 fucking karens called 311 and bitched.

So instead of spending whatever it will cost to have a bunch of guys, their foreman, 3 or 4 city trucks, traffic control etc etc, to take spidey down, there is no fucking way they would spend that on cleaning up all the fucking shit.

FUCK!!

It's a fucking joke if you ask me!! And we wonder why this city has its " no fun city " reputation. On various social media sites people were asked about it being removed and in a nutshell, many thought it was ridiculous and should remain. Damn....I detest spiders but come on!! It's not real and it's just art! Let's have some freedom of expression!

Removing it? Talk about a wastes of manpower and taxes. Those ones who make these decisions need to get a fucking life and chill out! I vote for leaving it be.

I will say this. Kudos to those who created it. Amazing.

They should at least keep it and mount it beside this...

Damn thanks for posting, didnt know about this and its terrible...

I wasnt a fan of seeing the big spider, but seeing the garbage left behind, i think the city needs to get their priority straightened or we need to remove the people in power... its no wonder we're all struggling, maybe the city needs to revisit how they spend our money no different than how we spend in our households...

Parts of the city, including the area where the spider is located, are literally covered in shitty tags and other graffiti the city ignores, but they jump on removing a recycled spider. If the artist had spray-painted spiders all over the city, it wouldn't have got a mention.

There are some fucked up rules about graffiti in this city. Shitty tags in many places, some really outstanding artful tags in others, no rhyme nor reason that is apparent as to what gets removed.
A friend of mine in the Mnt Pleasant area owns an apartment in a 4 story walk up, decent place, fenced property, etc. Asshat taggers put their shit up on the fence facing the alley so the only folks who see it are the civic workers doing garbage and recycling pickup and the local folks. Yet regularly, the building gets notices from the city that THEY have to remove the tags at THEIR cost.
Vancouver ... what can anyone say.

That blows me away too, no common sense these days, there is rotting garbage left everywhere even the area where the Spider is located. Yeah that Spider has to go, unsanctioned street art is a hazard, wtf is wrong with these people, it’s perfectly located, get rid of the trash!

I get that people have a sense of some bureaucratic "no fun city" stuff. But if that metal sculpture were to fall onto the Skytrain tracks, or collapses the slope, because it was installed half-assed & without any oversight, how upset would people be at the disruption to train service, much less if the train hit an obstacle and crash. This isn't like putting the words "Dude Chillin" on a park sign.

Aye, there's garbage in the area too - indeed, the sculptor makes his works out of scrap. But I mean this is that "just one more thing" they have to do in a city where they have 1000 problems a month to fix, and can actually get to maybe 100.

What does it cost to ask permission? There's a chandelier under the Granville Bridge, but you can be damn sure that was not just hung up there as some sort of prank art.

Skytrain has had some interesting art along the way, I still liked the BonerSatan the best, mounted on the pedestal it was hilarious!🤣
