The fact Bruce can still show humor and smile throughout this bs shows how much bigger he is than this pathetic franchise

Canucks are never winning a cup with this travesty of an owner and wouldn't be surprised if Petey leaves after his bridge

There is no point to fire Boudreau. This team will not make the playoffs. It’s time to get their sites on Connor Bedard and position themselves where that might become a reality.

Can anyone name one beneficial thing GM Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford have done this year? Maybe spent way too much for other players. Now there’s not enough to resign Horvat who happens to be the best player every game and leads the scoring.

If Tocchet becomes coach anticipate another five of years losing. He’s had two seasons of barely beating 50% and all the rest were losing a lot more than winning seasons. He is not the right coach for right now. Hell I’d hire Alain Vigneault all over again but I bet the word is out about this dysfunctional owner and what a shit show they’ve created.

It’s official. Bruce Boudreau has been fired. Rick Tocchet will become the Canucks’ sixth head coach in the last 10 years.

You're right and adding this this, they have few good players upfront ( I'E, Bo, Pettersson and Kuzmenko ), but, the real problem on the ice is goal tending along with a very weak D. Very weak. Until they address the issues I've stated, they'll keep falling hard before it's begun.

For anyone who's watched and followed NHL hockey regularly and for years, you'll note one major thing? In playoffs, impeccable goalies take you to the end. They are a like a rock wall in front of the net. And the D --- rock solid as well. There's no way you can say that about the Canucks. This team has a very long road ahead. And Rutherford's press conference he recently had....that remains to be seen about comments he made. In fact, I'll bet the opposite and that is there won't be much improvement by 3 years time.

As for tanking in lieu Connor Bedard? That, is not a guarantee tactic. Trade for him afterwards? Maybe, but relying on the draft itself? Good luck. Vancouver's luck in that department is next to none..

Very well said. Why do you think Trevor Linden left ? He saw this long ago with this organization.

Sadly, this won't happen but, I would highly enjoy it the fans boycott the remaining games and send a message.

The Acquilini family are a bunch of crooks, always have been. Their construction/property development company was notorious (still is) for ripping off contractors and subs. The brothers are a dysfunctional group of clowns living off the hard work of the old man. Rather than back Trevor Linden who said to blow it up years ago, they stuck with Benning and he fucked it all up. Then they finally get rid of him and they bring in a 73 year old whose best years are long behind him and he's brought his own Pittsburgh crew in.

They sign Miller to a stupid contract rather than trade him when his value was highest and they are going to fuck up trading Boeser and Horvat, just watch. Then the treatment of Boudreau, from the summer until now has just gotten worse and more sadistic. And their chosen replacement is Rick Tocchet? Give me a break. They just keep bringing in Penguin retreads. seriously, piss on the whole lot of them. The only silver lining is that they cannot seem to win, even when they try, so they are backing into tanking by default.

I think Boudreau getting fired was inevitable. 90% of time, the coach gets fired before a GM does, 95% compared to a DHO, and well, never an owner (which is the problem here).

The problem wit the Canucks being a lame-duck team is every other GM in the league knows it, and whatever desperate moves they make now will be exploited.
Dump a high-value player to some playoff-contender? (Miller, OEL, etc.) Well don't expect a juicy bunch of 1st round picks in exchange. Worst of all, expect that your salary dump will backfire as they all demand terms where the other team does not actually pay its own dollars for the acquired player.

If the Canucks team core is blown up:
1) getting or anyone of genuine quality in the draft is not guaranteed (esp. not with the notion that Bettman always rigs the draft lottery against the Canucks)
2) it means at least 3 more years of "rebuilding" (losing) to clean the team of all the dead-weight contracts and stock up on meaningful new talent.
3) Does anyone think the owner is not going to fuck things up for the next 2 GM's and 5 coaches? Owners are businessmen, and they want to be hands-on when so much money is involved, but usually this is a bad idea for sports teams.

So this year is a write-off. They may get that "new coach bump" just like last year, but only just enough to fuck up their draft chances. If they actually end this year holding the Stanley Cup as champions, I will kick my own ass.

in the meantime, how about dem Whitecaps ?

The Canucks Owners have had a history of failure. Remember Alain Vigneault getting fired? Pretty universally agreed amongst the sports community that Benning should have been the one to be fired.
NHL coaches generally have a defined half life but being a Canucks coach its probably a lot shorter.
Too bad - Bruce Boudreau's record is decent, he's a good guy and a good coach. But if management does not give him, or any coach going forward for that matter, the tools to work with, its a lose lose situation.
Now I see in the news Rutherford (Nucks President) is apologizing for the way the 'firing' was done. Well fuck you to him too I guess. Asshole.
