Vancouver fixture and nice guy Tom Harrison passed away. Met him once at the Pacific Coliseum and had a quick chat. Very polite and friendly guy.

It made me smile to read that he was once a singer in Bruno Gerussi’s Medallion .

When I think of Vancouver in the good-old days for me, one of the things is the Georgia Straight and it's Gastown office, and Tom Harrison. The music scene was roaring
and the paper had a completely different slant than today.

Born and raised in Winnipeg. Moved to Vancouver as a young man and went on to have an illustrious career as a rock journalist and musician.
RIP Tom.

The old Straight office in Gastown was the first place I ever saw the sign: "Sorry, We're Open."

Ya. Shortly after I arrived, I was drinking in Gastown with a friend. We wandered into the Town Pump and to my amazement Hans Staymer and the R&B All Stars were playing. Hans Staymer was a hero. Earliest 80's.
