yeah, but where do people constantly get this "fiscal conservative" thing from? the Conservative Party? because the "say so"? history simply doesn't provide evidence of "fiscal conservatism" from them. in fact, the first thing on most "conservative" agendas is to attack progressive tax law, give big tax breaks to the richest and then try and reign in spending to pay for it. and any "reigning in" is usually at the cost of the majority and never anything like cutting back on corporate welfare.
It's true.
These supposed business experts always manage to run the government's finances right into the ground. Their main core value seems to be to destroy social services so we'll be even more at the mercy of big businesses that swindle us (all run by their country club buddies of course). Their actual fiscal record when they have power is terrible. More to the point, what they seem to spend money on is basically just to pamper their own kind.
Also the "law and order" rep is an even worse joke. A party which thinks greed is a virtue is never actually going fight crime or protect people. If they punish anyone, it's only to protect the elite and maintain the lie that they are moral god-fearing folk. (Shit, they
should fear god, because for the likes of them, the afterlife elevator only goes down.)
They only win when years pass without them in power, people get bored with the mediocre others, and forget their true nature. This is why they always oppose electoral reform - they know most people can't stand them, but also they are far too greedy to share power. Their only path to power is to lure just enough suckers into thinking they've changed and making a mistake on election day.
And when it comes to foreign and defense policy, the bottom line is they would let Washington take command completely. They might want to equip Canada's military more, but it's never for Canada's national interests that it will be used. They're weak men pretending to be strong, "patriots" fighting for for the wrong country.
Canada's ancestral true Tories would be sickened by them - not by the upper-classism, but rather by the total betrayal of ethics, traditions, and common sense.
