This would be my number one concern if I won a shitload of money. I would keep a low profile and resist the urge to flaunt my wealth.Given the large prizes they’ve had this year, security for yourself and family is a must. There was a $27M lotto winner in Montreal who was kidnapped and threatened with murder in 2007.
They still give out your legal nameYeah, here in BC, you have to agree to be in the promotional ads and shit before you can get your money. I like the one lotto winner who showed up in a Darth Vader mask and costume to hide their identity.
I would wear a hat, sunglasses and a mask and do everything I can to ensure as few people as possible know I won. No way I want to get buried with the scam artists, poor/distant relatives and other idiots who would come out of the woodwork looking for a handout or a cut of the win.
If I was the proxy I would jump on the first plane out of the country as soon as I got the money. ✈💰I've actually thought about this (which is odd as I don't buy lottery tickets)... I would hire a proxy to claim the ticket. Get a contract done up by a lawyer, the proxy gets 10% (maybe it's the lawyer) and then transfers me the rest of the money.
On the Playnow website they show pics of the winner but only first name and Initial of the surname. They still give out your legal name
