If you’re scared, stay home. If you want to go out, go out. Quit worrying about everybody else, and take care of you and yours. If lockdowns were a great help, and the answer, Europe’s and many other countries would not be erupting with the virus. Be calm, live long.

11.4% Positive Rate , Over 6000 Active cases... This will double under a week... At this point i have spoken to some industry people and they believe it really out of there hands, sooo some have stopped working , but others are still working and more than one response was " I don't want to get it, but if i do I'm going to keep working because i already have it, and my family will all ready have it"... We have "ME" people on both sides of the equation Bosses who say its fake to girls , ladies who may be indifferent, Customers who are oblivious to there condition if if they cared... Oh that's 3 sides.... Anyway this is a Shit Show , don't expect anyone to have the same outlook... I don't have an answer, I just know what feel right and what doesn't for me... I'm leaning to the community first approach right now..

On another note it looks like the Bylaw Officers are out in full force today.
Made a stop at Home Depot this morning and a person was getting a ticket for refusing to wear a mask. The store was also not monitoring how many were entering. I decided to wait and follow him, he made stops Sobeys, Walmart, CanadianTire, St Vital Centre and RCS

Lock downs are only a part of the solution but still an important part. In any disease outbreak senario, quarantines and reducing interaction of the susceptable population are important and necessary. Without them the case numers would be even higher. The US is a prime example.
The problem with a "If you want to go out, go out." attitude is that by going out, you are unnecessarily increasing your exposure. If you get sick it's not just about "you and yours." It's about an already overwhelmed health care system and the health care workers who are at risk every day dealing with Covid patients.
There is no "me" or "I" in any of this, as long as you are going to depend on our publically funded health care system and it's workers to save your ass when you contract Covid.
Cheers

Good! It was very frustrating the past few weeks to see all the people openly thumbing their noses at the rules in place. I don't know how many times I would see someone not following the rules and a security guard nearby did SFA.
A friend of mine has a son, who for a university course went to local malls to chart how many people were openly not obeying mall rules. There were many. And he added that at 2 of the 3 malls, the security personell were more concerned with what he was doing than dealing with the rule breakers. Idiots!
It will be interesting to see if they visit any of the touring ladies for proof of the requiired 14 day self isolation period.

They will be lucky if ICU has room given how COVID is progressing

Why are you getting test so much? Do you have covid symptoms? Are you in a high risk job? Or is it because your still seeing sp's and you want to be save?

I Totally agree. We should follow health protocols and take it easy for the time being. I had a date with a very popular local sp and had to cancel it. I was torn because I have been waiting to see her for the longest time as our schedules didn't align. We all love this hobby, but we just have to be smart and safe. I know a friend that lost a loved one to covid, so its real. Please stay safe.

It remains all about me or I. Self - entitlement is a bitch to combat. $$$ and greed got us here and clearly will keep us here.
I hoped to see some lessons learned through this but I'm not so sure that will be the case.
It doesn't need to be hard. Small amount of pain for a greater gain.

Peace

I have no sympathy for the rule breakers. The rules are clear just follow them.
You know, we would not be in the position we are in today if people just followed the public health orders. It’s time to put ourselves second and think of others first (Health care workers, loved ones etc). Many of us have had loved ones in hospital and have pleaded with Physicians and Nurses to do all that they can. Let’s not put these people in the position of making life and death decisions by ourselves being irresponsible. Our Health Care system is at a tipping point, god forbid and of us get sick, are in a accident and need a bed or ICU bed. The decision is in our hands, what we all feared last spring is now happening.

Just about all of the surgeries have been cancelled again. My personal investment officer was telling me she still has many clients demanding a one on one, when all can be done over the phone. I was also surprised to hear my PIO has not missed a day since covid started.

Great way to sum it up.
Unfortunately part of the problem is the confusion/mixed messages people are getiing from the government.
They come out and say there is a ban on gatherings then walk it back the next day allowing groups of 5. The same thing happened a few weeks ago when they were to close bars and then the next day they reversed that decision to allow bars to remain open until 11. So I guess you can only catch Covid after 11 pm?
And then when they do announce restrictions it's always 2-3 days down the road. While I can appreciate giving people in affected businesses a heads up, I also saw an infectious disease specialist on TV, say that is counter productive to do this. It just makes people go into panic mode and flood into those businesses, significantly increasing contacts. On Wed. I was driving home from spending some time having a private ceremony at the memorial on Valour Road. I went through the Polo Park area and it was ridiculous to see the line ups outside Winners, Home Sense, Best Buy, Michaels Crafts, etc., because people were panicking that they were closing for a couple of weeks.
Last night my sister is telling how even the Canadian military is stupid and makes no sense. Her son, my nephew, is stationed out east. Right now their base is on lock down and the guys can't leave even when off duty. But she hears from him that they are allowing them leave at Christmas to come home. So there is going to be 1000's of military personnel, scattering all over the country, from various bases, at Christmas time and then returning to base a few weeks later. Sure they are supposed to self isolate when they arrive home but still this makes no sence. It's just another way for the virus to spread. She admitted that she will be heart broken not to see him as she missed him dearly and I'm sure all the soldiers will hate being confined to base at Christmas but again it is for the greater good. If anyone should understand this, it is a soldier.
The government at all levels neesd to stop with all the dilly dallying and set some firm rules that actually make sense and stick with them.
Cheers
J

Only emergency surgeries are being performed everything else cancelled. My neighbour needs a hip replacement. He was scheduled for March 2020 and that was cancelled. As of last week he still did not have a date. He hurt his hip last December in a sledding accident. My Investment professional has been working from home since March vs the DT tower and we Skype every two weeks, no need to meet face to face in this day and age given the pandemic.

Unfortunately rules don’t work or have not worked to date. There needs to be serious ramifications for those that willfully ignore the healthcare directives.
