A Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, is investing in an aluminum plant Mitch McConnell's riding of Kentucky.
Canadian aluminum would compete with this Russian backed aluminum.
Blocking Canadian aluminum helps Trump's Russian backers.
You need to learn the difference between smelting and rolling of aluminum. All things being equal, a new rolling facility in the US, would conceivably benefit the Canadian aluminum industry (as we do alot of smelting and a rolling facility would need the output of a smelting facility). Now, if you believe the recent tariff on Canadian aluminum has anything to do with this new Kentucky facility - probably not. That new Kentucky facility will probably already have (either explicitly or on a "hand-shake" basis) an agreement to buy output from Russian smelters (more accurately aluminum smelted at one of Rusal's smelters) - why do you think Rusal would take a 40% interest in that rolling facility? Their 40% investment secured a new long term customer for it's smelters, it's really that simple. Tariffs on Canadian aluminum is not needed for such a Rusal-Kentucky deal - Canadian aluminum smelters had no real chance (given Rusal's stake in the Kentucky facility) to supply smelted aluminum to the new rolling facility.

I have LITERALLY quoted the part where you say --- " Constantly lying? Based on what? Sound bites taken out of context? His tendency to exaggerate and embellish?". AND I have added that your entire post is hilarious. Your new one even more so. Biden has "gaffes of mental acuity", while Trump's covfefes are "shallow complaints". Yet you complain about the hypocrisy of others. Irony much? Go hump a tree bro.
Again, I ask you to show me where I said Trump does not lie and only exaggerates and embellishes. Your statements were very matter of fact. I never said Trump doesn't lie. He does embellish quite a bit, as that is his style, but he does lie as well, especially when he's up against a wall. I must apologize however. I was under the impression you were in a position to debate. Clearly, you are not.

Apology accepted. I am in no position to debate with a dunce. "especially when he's up against a wall." --- nope. he lies habitually. This is my last reply to you. you are not worth my time.

This is all you can pull out of my post? You do realize that your response is based on your short sighted imagination, yes? Please show me where I said Trump "doesn't lie and "only" exaggerates." While I'm waiting, I'll show you where DoubleJ(?) said he is "constantly lying", and yet he will not, and cannot, back it up, like you won't be able to show where I said Trump "doesn't lie".

https://perb.cc/xenforo/goto/post?id=2117043A. yes trump is inept, corrupt, and constantly lying.

This is the problem with your approach, and those of your little gang. You don't think about what you're posting and you make things up in order to add emphasis. A lack of logical and coherent consistency makes everything you say appear thin, at best, but wholly zoned out of reality. Take Quarter Mile'r, for instance. I asked him some very basic questions regarding the riots in Portland which he has refused to answer. Further, during our Trump/Portland riot-protest exchange, he had this to say...

"...meaning you Bobert most essentially. You obviously missed
Wheelers television interview where he said everything was quieted down and the protesters were behaving
at that point. Then the violence erupted when the Federal Gestapo jumped in breaking the First ammendment
of the constitution for peaceful protesting I stand by what I said and your telling me my points were irrelevant
are negligence on your part for being able to come up with a rebuttal except for a pathetic excuse."

Yet here we are, Federal officers having pulled back a week and a half ago, the riots continuing as recently as last night, and with tear gas being used against the protesters/rioters, where is Quarter Mile'r's screams of Gestapo tactics? Does this only apply to Trump because he hates Trump or does this apply to any force of authority that does the same? The hypocrisy of many of the arguments I'm reading are simply astounding. The best I've seen are comedic parodies of Trump's speaking style and the difficulty he had saying "origins", and other shallow complaints laced with a multitude of expletives. Shall we pull up the daily gaffes of mental acuity from Mr. Biden?
Wow, really getting offended I see. LOL!!
Okay I'll reply since you've been trolling my ass forever since our "debate".
But first how about a little music to go along with your rant above.

Don't mind if I start the music for you? Here ya go!

Now, try lightening up a little. You may enjoy the satisfaction of unwinding
your brain for a few moments.

Couldn't agree with you more densepark, you want an example, a really good example of being
up against the wall?? And the coward takes off as usual when confronted by the truth.

Oh yah, Bobert, enjoy this one too man. You'll love it.

You see a person doesn't even have to be a leftist to understand what tRUMP is all about.
I'm not a lefty and have never voted left in my entire life. Nor will I ever.
If Joe Biden, whom I not really a fan of ever spoke or acted like this Orange dunce
I'd be all over his ass as well. We'll see if that happens if Biden wins the election.

He says it all in that video when confronted by the truth. What a coward.

The "taken out of context" excuse is invalid. The interview should dispel the myth that media take him out of context.
Watch the whole unedited version.
He is completely out of touch with reality. Just watch his pathetic attempts to answer questions, that are NOT taken out of context.
He doesn't even know how to read charts.
When the interviewer corrects him Trump has no defense.
He lies and lies, he denies saying things that he is on video saying. He takes credit for things he had nothing to do with.
He is lazy, self indulgent and corrupt. He directs government business to his properties and channels millions of taxpayer dollars into his own pockets.
He's a coward who avoided serving in Vietnam but shits on a guy who was a POW, a guy who stayed in prison so others could go free.
He lied when he promised to release his taxes.
He lied when he said he would be too busy working to golf.
All this is documented and can easily be fact-checked.

None of this matters though.
Trump's appeal is emotional, not rational. Facts, charts, statistics do not matter to the magat cult.
There is no point arguing with them.

LOL! Sorry mate, but rather rich - you proclaiming/criticizing the "maga cult" for ignoring (either willfully or due to ignorance) facts when you clearly do not know the facts about the aluminum industry, US sanctions on Russia, etc., etc.! I mean seriously, from those articles you posted (and they are good articles) you couldn't even figure out the fact that RUSAL (a company) is investing in the Kentucky rolling plant and not Deripaska (the person). Nor could you be bothered to do some simple fact checking (or just simply ignored the fact) that although sanctions against RUSAL were lifted, the sanctions against Deripaska were not! Moreover, clearly you saw some articles about a republican (McConnell) and Russians and somehow decided that this is more evidence of Trump/Russia ties/collusion. And then you took it a step further and somehow tried to make the case that this is why there is again tariffs on Canadian aluminum. So, if as you claim, "Facts, charts, statistics do not matter to the magat cult"...

Deripska gave up his board seat but he still has a lot of shares, more than any other single bloc.
I agree the aluminum plant in Kentucky is a common sense move since it is close to so many auto plants.

What is the real rationale behind the tariffs on Canadian aluminum?

What is the real rationale behind the tariffs on Canadian aluminum?
Deripska prior to the sanctions had something in the neighbourhood of 70% of RUSAL. He now has less than 40% (so RUSAL is now in compliance with US OFAC 50% rule on ownership). Deripska can never receive a dividend from the RUSAL shares he owns as long as he is a shareholder. The RUSAL shares owned by his wife and father are effectively banned from voting on RUSAL matters, in fact those shares' voting rights are held in trust by US Government appointees and can only vote in the same way the majority of other RUSAL shareholders vote. Pretty much the entire BoD of RUSAL now must be comprised of Amercians or Brits's or other Europeans with zero ties to the Kremlin. All that was agreed to by RUSAL to get off the US sanctions list. RUSAL was added to the sanctions list in 2018, not because RUSAL did anything wrong, but because they wanted to go after Deripska (who at the time controlled RUSAL, which he no longer does). Some might say therefore, the sanction actually worked - as it took a year for RUSAL to throw their founder (Deripska) under the bus! Oddly enough, these sanctions were in part possible due to Executive Orders signed by Obama in 2014 following Russia's annexation of Crimea. Yet it wasn't Obama that wanted to go after Deripska - it wasn't until 2018 that the US went after Deripska (if memory serves, on recommendation of the US Treasury Department and US State Department). And no, I'm not saying the fact that Obama didn't go after RUSAL or Deripska shows that Obama is somehow in bed with the Russians. It simply shows that there are risks in hamstringing a company as large as RUSAL. In fact, much of the lobbying in favour of lifting RUSAL sanctions came from US allies in Europe - if you track this kind of stuff, when the RUSAL sanctions were lifted, aluminum prices fell by 25-30%. So most likely Obama (and his administration) did the calculus and thought it would not be worth it to the US or it's allies to go hard after Deripska via RUSAL.

There is no rationale behind tariffs on Canadian aluminum, that's why it is baffling to everyone - even (by in large) the US aluminum industry. The consensus seems to be it's POTUS merely playing politics during an election cycle - this POTUS clearly likes tariffs. The US does not produce enough primary aluminum itself to meet it's own demand. Canada produces more primary aluminum than the US and we still send most of our primary aluminum to the US, which means they need it and tariffs aren't going to change the fact that we're closer than any other outside source. So for the time being, Americans will pay more until they come to their senses.

For clarity, a somewhat obscure internet forum that thrives on anonymity is the last place I'll be offended:) I enjoy the circus of seeing how far the irrational thought processes can go with some of the opinions based on sound bites and op-ed pieces that are presented (incorrectly) as factual news. The only reason I was "trolling" you is because when I'm in a discussion, and someone makes a statement as a matter of fact, I expect them to back it up and the questions I presented was the shortest and most direct way to get that from you. If you're not going to answer, so be it.

Well like why I walked away from that discussion as I was being played for using irrational thought processes
based on sound bites and op-ed pieces presented (incorrectly) as factual news which Bobert was doing the
exact same thing. Only his "brighter and wiser" intellect it seems was the only solution to be found as legit.
So to that my friend Bobert,............I silently walked away seeing that there was no discourse for correction
or rational thought to the disscussion as you so admitted that you enjoy the circus of seeing how far the irrational thought processes will go.
Well I found out what your irrational thought processes are by making that statement and refuse to play
YOUR childish game. So again as I was walking away with arm pointing back toward you with finger
proudly displayed in the upright position. (middle finger that is). I'll let you ponder that thought
process. I finished pondering it a long time ago as densepark mentioned as well, with a thought out
response of, SHOVE IT!!!

I certainly don't expect a response from you as you stated yourself, you expected an irrational thought
process so their you go buddy!

This is one of the most desperate attempts I've seen so far to label Trump a racist and when the narrative regarding "very fine people" continues to be espoused, it only reinforces two things for me.

1. Those that repeat it have not taken the time to research it themselves.
2. If they have researched it themselves yet their confirmation bias prevents them from believing their own ears.

The "very fine people" issue is a farce, a complete fabrication. Here is the proof with the full discussion from beginning to end. At 1:55, Trump specifically condemns white nationalists and Neo-Nazis. For anyone to continue with the more prevalent narrative after seeing this is, quite simply, evil.

And when you have to dig so deep into someone's behaviour that what they DON'T say is an indicator of some form of deep racist code, you're digging too far. This speaks to the larger problem of political correctness and is akin to screaming that the sky is falling. When one has to work so hard to interpret what is not being said as actually being a complete discussion, then it is only evidence that there really isn't a problem to begin with. This is the weakness of the liberal mindset, currently, in that the focus tends to be on what people say, or in this case, don't say, and not what they do. Conversely, it doesn't apply to anyone that they see as being a part of their efforts to advance their policies. When one compares one's words and even the deeds between the two candidates, Biden is by far one that can and should be considered the racist. He directly makes racist comments that are not in need of investigative interpretation to see, and he has throughout his entire career. His deeds go hand in hand with his words and the truth cannot possibly be more evident. Even when one places the question "What has (insert name here) done to help the African American community?" the picture is vastly different between both candidates. More comments are down below the image.

Biden vs Trump Black America copy.jpg

Both examples of the same search have had the single reference from their own supporting websites removed from consideration. In these cases, for Joe Biden it was his campaign website and for Trump it was a link to whitehouse.gov, both for obvious reasons. When we examine the links to Biden, out of the nine qualified links, we have 7 negatives, 1 positive, and 1 neutral link. For Trump, we have 4 neutral and 5 positive and ZERO are negative. I know this isn't a scientific examination of the issue but as a random comparison, I think it is quite telling. More so, ALL of the negatives for Biden were SPECIFICALLY REGARDING RACIST COMMENTS made directly during interviews or during speeches. Conversely, ZERO of the links about Trump that are, at worst neutral, state anything about racist comments but have more to do with his exaggerations.

You really should learn to look past your emotional knee jerk reactions and fact check even the fact checkers.

So wait; You said I said Trump does not lie, then I agreed he does lie, but asked you to quote me where I said "Trump does not lie" (your words) and your proof is by quoting me where I did not say that Trump does not lie but was asking you a question about what you based your claim of him "constantly lying" on? Maybe go back and read it from the beginning, if you care enough to, but man you really don't appear to be thinking this through.
