As a lower 49er, I completely agree that communication is paramount...unless the info being communicated is chock-full of half-truths, 'hunches' and outright lies. POTUS (or POS) only cares about himself and getting re-elected, so whatever he says must be looked through that prism. He was given the opportunity to soothe the psyche of The American people when a reporter (Jennings) lobbed him a soft-ball about what he could tell the frightened public what his administration could do to ease their fears...#45 instead attacked the reporter.
That asshat is now using any opportunity to include the phrase 'Chinese Virus' (even members of his cabinet are adopting it) instead of COVID or Corona.

So, yes communication is critical just as long as The Liar in Chief isn't the one doing it
I guess people are just incapable of discussing the facts and just want to resort to throw mud around rather then discuss the problem and what is being done about it. It really saddens me that people are so focused on disliking Trump that they are convinced he can do nothing right and everything he does is wrong.

There are things I like about Trump and there are things I dislike about Trump but based on watching the press conferences for the last few days it seems to me he is doing a pretty good job at handling this crisis.

Can you tell me specific things he has done that have made the situation worse then it could have been?
He seems to have put together a pretty good team and he is letting them stand out front and tell us what they are doing rather then make it look like he is doing it all himself. Which does not sound like the Trump I hear the Trump haters describe.
He has been having daily press conferences bringing us up to date with a lot of good information.
He has been praising many democrats for what they are doing that he thinks is good for the crisis.

I wish he would not call it the Chinese virus and not keep complaining about the Chinese and how long it took them to inform the rest of the world what is going on.

This is one situation that trump the buffoon cannot lie his way out of. Anybody that thinks he is doing a good job concerning this crisis is as delusional as he is.

1. He denied that there was not a problem for weeks and chose to ignore the problem instead of properly preparing tests and medical equipment.
2. He kept contradicting the experts at the CDC creating confusion, like telling people to go to work when the CDC was telling people to self isolate.
3. He put Mike Pence in charge, who infamously caused an outbreak of HIV while he was governor of Indiana aaaand Mike Pence does not believe in science. Trump would rather put a lackey yes man in this crucial position than someone with experience (like a scientist).
4. In 2018 he disbanded the government’s pandemic response team.
5. When he finally admitted there is a problem, he decided to start calling COVID19 the Chinese Virus, which is now causing racist sentiment towards Chinese people. The WHO specifically decided to avoid regional description of the virus because of the xenophobia that resulted from SARS and MERS.
6. The USA actually has a pandemic action plan that Trump continues to ignore. It states that all direction and information should come from a single expert sources and politicians should not be saying anything about the virus that has not been vetted by the CDC, but Trump’s too narcissistic to let that happen, so he continues to spread disinformation like talking about cures that do not exist and that everything will be back to normal in a few weeks.

The reason people have been bashing Trump isn’t because of politics. It is because of situations like this where he has no problem risking the lives of millions of people as long as he can find a way to benefit himself. Ronald Reagan, Bush Sr. And even Bush Jr. wouldn’t have bungled this as bad as Trump, because they are/were not sociopaths.

I'm open to discuss specifics, but Johnniedarkdoe hit all the points (concerning this pandemic)...

Maybe I could ask you what he has said/done that was honest/forthright/transparent, not anyone else, but Trump himself, out of his own mouth...
Perhaps I've developed a reflex from 3+ years of consistent lies whereby I'm no longer able to hear/see anything he says/does without (at the minimum) skepticism and (usually) disgust. So please enlighten me on anything positive that he has pioneered...we can go down the list, let's just start with the 'E's

Environment?
Education?
Economy?

Like I said, I'm open to have an honest discourse and I would absolutely love to be proven wrong

Kind of an ignorant comment knowing that the current Market crash is caused by external issues like the --- corona virus & The Saudi's feud with Russia's causing further disaster with the oil sector crashing. Had these events not occurred, we would still be touching record highs!!

You might want to be more pragmatic and see the bigger picture.:rolleyes:

The stock rally that trump continually bragged about and attributed to himself since he took office has been wiped out. Pretty sure you won’t hear him make any reference to this situation. I expect even the most dull witted of his followers are aware of this and rethinking about voting him in again.

You think I don’t know what’s behind the steep market decline? I know as well as anybody. Just pointing out another one of trumps failings, which is quit evident. You want to hear ignorant comments, just listen to anything he has to say.

The corporate tax-cut played a big role in the stock markets exuberance, (and ironically Trump is dissing all the stock repurchases that occurred during the '08 bail-out which is exactly what happened with the trillion-dollar gift he gave to big business).

I've asked this question several times either here, IRL or elsewhere: what has Trump done that makes you feel he's good for the country? why do people defend him so vehemently when he's called on his BS? How is lying to the American people OK?

I still haven't received any response other than 'all politicians do it, he's just in-you-face about it'. Again, I've never heard an adequate explanation why they'll follow this idiot anywhere he goes...I don't get it

You don't get it because you watch CNN and MSNBC all day. His fans love him because he calls them on their BS. For five years they have tried everything to "get" him, from racism, sexism, phony Russian collusion, immigration cages, stupid impeachment, on and on. Every press conference is a gotcha, headline attempt. He is the first politician to throw it back in their face and point out their insane bias. If you actually watched a Trump rally you would understand his appeal. The people are happy, laughing, full of optimism, and excited about the future. Compare that to a Bernie rally and you see an angry, bitter, blame everyone crowd, let's steal the rich man and evil corporation's money.

So now we got half the population literally cheering death, cheering the body bag count, cheering the loss of wealth even though it is their pensions, their parents' savings. How sick is that? How perverted are the Left and Trump haters that they want more people to die? So they can go see, see I told you he was no good. I knew he was incompetent. Because they know it is the only way he will not get re-elected.

It's easy to get if you actually read anything other than left-wing media. But go on, continue to cheer the body bag count. And even when it is nowhere near the worst case scenarios, they will not give him any credit. They just can't, they are so conditioned after 5 years. The flu kills 20,000 Americans every year. H1N1 killed 15,000 mostly young people. Car crashes kill 40,000 a year. 400 mostly old sick people have died and we have a media driven, manufactured "get Trump" recession and market crash? It's ridiculously out of control because they smell blood. It actually is sickening. Cheering death. How much hatred must one have to cheer death for your desire to blame someone?

Very well said. I am no Trump supporter, I think he is an overconfident fool and is making many wrong decisions.
However, the hate he is getting is ridiculous. And truth to be told, at the end of the day, so far he is not much worse president than "do nothing for 8 years" Obama.

And the DNC and corrupted Democrats are not better than Trump at this moment at all. Just look at who are they pushing to be their candidate in November. The senile clueless warmonger Joe freaking Biden. You must be kidding me. They are incapable of coming up with a viable candidate who could be able to defeat Trump. They are even forcing people to vote in the middle of the pandemic (agains any reasonable recommendations) to ensure Biden will be the candidate. Really sad.
Bernie had a good chance in 2016, but they pushed Hillary with the disastrous results. And are making all the same mistakes again.
And look at what is happening now. Pelosi and Congress Democrats are blocking UBI payments to poor suffering Americans, since their Wall Street and corporate billionaire donors are telling them to. They are being outlefted by Trump in the time of global crisis. And who do you think people are going to vote for in November?

Democrats need to wake up and get rid of corrupted non progressive leadership, or there should a viable third option. Unfortunately that is not going to happen any time soon.
So get used to see Trump and similar populist right wingers in the White House in the foreseeable future. And don't blame them for that. Blame Hillary, Biden, Pelosi, Peres, Buddagieg, Bloomberg and the rest of the corrupted, arrogant, entitled establishment. And, I am sad to say, Bernie, Tulsi, Yang and the rest of progressives for folding to the DNC masters.

Here is a timeline of China and the US since this started. Looking at this it seems the Trump Administration has responded reasonably to this:

In mid-December 2019, an emerging cluster of people, many linked to the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan, were infected with pneumonia with no clear causes. Chinese scientists subsequently linked the pneumonia to a new strain of coronavirus that was given the initial designation SARS-CoV-2.
:
On 10 January 2020, the first death and 41 clinically confirmed infections caused by the coronavirus were reported.
:
US has first diagnosed case of COVID-19 in Washington State from a man recently arrived from China havinhg been in Hunan
:
By 22 January 2020, the novel coronavirus had spread to major cities and provinces in China, with 571 confirmed cases and 17 deaths reported.
:
On the 23rd of January, China’s Hubei province, which contains the city of Wuhan, had 444 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
A week later, by the 30th of January, it had 4,903 cases.
Another week later, by the 6th of February, it had 22,112.
:
On 23 January 2020, the central government of China imposed a lockdown in Wuhan and other cities in Hubei province in an effort to quarantine the centre of an outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

I read a theory that Trump declared the virus fake news so he could gain more time for his crew to to sell their stocks before the market crashed, he knew it was coming.

Nothing you post changes the fact that trump called the corona virus a hoax and denied how serious it was until even a moron like him finally figured it out. Then changes his tune and calls it a pandemic and says he knew was one. How you can even think of supporting him is beyond belief.

This situation will be trumps downfall
Sure. Good for you if you can find any joy in all this.

The problem is, Biden will still lose to this Trump and rightfully so. Since if he wins he would not be any better. On the contrary. Just look at what are Pelosi and Democrats doing right now.

And you keep blaming "brainwashed stupid people and US educational system", instead addressing the real problem. Corrupted, entitled and arrogant Democratic leadership.
