It should NOT be business as usual - just play it safe for a few weeks, then we can slowly get back to normal.

I’m not gonna say I hope I’m wrong as we need to do whatever it takes to curb the spread of this filthy disease. Just got info from a fed gov employee. A full scale lockdown like we are seeing in the state of Cal and NY is coming and will be in the 5-8week range . U may ask why we not doing it now and following suit like some US states. Was told they have been easing us into it the last few days. And hey I have no problem with people disagreeing or hating on me LoL. I just wanted to pass along what I was told from a credible source . And as the American state lockdowns the same what is deemed essential services will remain open or at work ie police 1st responders the railways , trucking etc. Pharmacy’s and grocery’s stores hrs will be reduced to something along the 8am -4pm range. Shits getting real. Stay safe everybody

6 to 8 weeks minimum, and a very slow return to a new normal. Not like the old normal.

Many businesses and individuals will be ruined. The financial consequences will take years to rectify.
The residual effects of the sickness will make many unable to work like before.

I would agree, though I'd say 4-8 weeks.

Eventually most people will come into contact with the virus, no matter how careful society is. That might take a month or two.
My estimate is based on that, plus the two week period for the disease to develop.

There are a lot more stupid and irresponsible people around than I thought, so the spread will be very difficult to manage.

You should never underestimate how many stupid and irresponsible people there are. Daily life should confirm the astounding number of them.

We're looking at a year at least before there anything resembling maybe going back to a "normal" life.

I’m not gonna disagree with u , but I hope it’s sooner. But being minimum a year away from a vaccine it’s not looking good. And I think ur handle name pretty much sums its up. “UhOh”

Yes what I have read on physorg and NewScientist suggests an 18 month timeline for an actual vaccine. Minimum.

Manufacturing and distributing it will be more time, dispensing will be more time after that. So maybe 24 months.

Expected peak in BC is somewhere in the 8+ week range, so expect this for a while.

Hopefully I am just repeating something everyone understands.

Social distancing is not expected to reduce infections. It is only expected to delay them so the curve is flattened and the hospitals can cope. That means smaller numbers over a longer time. Last I recall the expectation is that 30 to 80 % of the population will contract covid-19 before there is a vaccine. We won't know what is really happening until the antibody blood test is readily available and everyone can be tested to see who HAS had the disease. The current test only responds to the presence of live virus.

I was watching the news, BC 1 global, and the reporter said that 1/3rd of Canadians will be infected this year, 1% will die. "114000 Canadians will die from the coronavirus this year" He said.
