The dream is thinking we can go on with business as usual while Australia is burning, BC will be burning in 3 months, Tonga is sinking, all the reefs are dead, Greenland is melting and California is parched. Everyone else is doing whatever they can trying to slow down all of this and not even stop it, because there is no stopping it anymore. We will keep on making batteries that hold more charge with new materials (who says lithium is the only solution?) and collecting the energy from the largest generator of energy in our solar system just to hold off the inevitable Mad Max scenario we are careening towards.
Fear mongering at its most ridiculous. I believe the Mad Max scenario was caused by nuclear war, hardly a likely occurrence.

I see. The global average temperature goes up so we’re having record cold temperatures. That makes no sense but people believe what they believe, regardless of the evidence.
We have record cold, and record hot temperature.

Let's say average temperature goes up by 1 degree, but the range increases by plus/minus 3 degrees. In this scenario, the hottest day will be 4 degrees higher than record, and the coldest day will be 2 degrees colder than record. Pretty simple concept really when you think about it, but lots of people have same difficulty as you din understanding this.

If you want to talk evidence, just look at the scientific data. It is widely available, the global temperature is increasing at a rapid rate.

If the average temp goes up by one degree a range increase would not be -3 degrees, that is in fact a range decrease, again makes no sense. Is a concept you seem not to understand. Scientific data is not conclusive in this regard.

maybe when you get rid of your HYPOCRITE PROVINCIAL GOV'T

the one who is telling the Natives that the pipeline he likes has all it's permits, has all the bands along the way signed up, it's going through no matter what

unlike the same one farther south with all the same conditions, approved, native groups signed up, ect....

you know the line, little LNG plant is going to blow your emissions out of the water right? lol

not that they're going down anyway, lol

or don't you believe your own gov't numbers? lol

the enviro groups do

it would be political suicide to buy power from BC in Alberta

dream on

plus we have enough NG, we'll never need to
As usual your fun facts are wrong!

Trans mountain runs through the territories and is opposed by the Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish and Coldwater nations as well as a coalition of small nations in the Fraser Valley - hence the legal challenge. While the Coastal Gaslink is supported by all of the elected band councils that it passes through.

A group of Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs oppose the decision of their elected chiefs to support Coastal Gaslink.

That is a key distinction you can educate yourself and your other buddies in Alberta about.

It is called 'Climate Change' for a reason and yes it comes with both increased average global temperatures and increasing occurence s of extremes in weather.

Both NASA and NOAA declared 2019 the second warmest year on record and the past decade the warmest ever.

Stop sniffing the gasoline, even Blackrock has begun divesting itself of carbon emitting investments in recognition of the climate emergency.

I hear it called global warming. Climate change seems to be used when it’s not actually getting warmer.

What it says to me is nobody seems to know who’s in charge when it comes to the various bands.

For the masterblasters and overdones of this world you have only to refer to the rates of insurance coverage to monitor if climate change exist or not . Because actuaries have to calculate according to trends based on scientific facts and for having dealt with them and their accuracy I would challenge anyone to argue with their numbers .

You could also try to argue with the fact that the Pentagon are taking into account climate change about the future of their bases and future strategies. ( I'll give it to you that their strategies have been flawed at the best of time ) Because their mathematicians have rang the alarm about what is going on ...you call it whatever you like

So far they know that whatever is warming the atmosphere is disturbing the jetstream in the high atmosphere and created extreme highs and lows but once you average it out , it's going up specially in the last two decades .

My apologies for not being clear enough. I meant the range increases by 3 degrees, at the top and bottom. If the warmest temperature is 40 degrees and the coldest is -30, the range will be 70 degrees. An increase of plus/minus 3 will give the range of 76 degrees, going from 43 to -33. As the average temperature increase, the entire band shifts up, let's say by 1 degree. Now the max hottest temperature becomes 44, and the coldest is -32. So even though the average temperature has increased, you can get record low temperature. Of course this is a simplification to illustrate the effect of increase in average temperature while hitting record lows.

I don’t really care what they’re doing at the pentagon. What I do know is about 17 or 18 years ago I rode my motorcycle at least one day every month of the year. That is impossible nowadays due to early snow and cold weather. I’m not seeing any global warming going on that’s for sure.

So back to the electric use. There is more use for electrical power now due to population increase, more houses, more office buildings, more electric cars, etc. Batteries are less efficient when it is cold. There is a cold snap in Alberta.
Heating a house can be by oil, natural gas or electric. With conservation in mind most would choose natural gas, but there is need of infrastructure, so the easiest is electrical heat.
When its cold outside people turn the heat up.
The problem with houses and buildings are their design. Most building built today only use a single door for access (convience of access). A well designed house has an airlock/air barrier to keep the heat in (enclosed porch,an mudroom.
If you are off grid, you have your own well (drinking water) and a generator for electric power (gas run), nowadays people can choose solar or wind (renewable energy).
People also look toward dual types of power, or heat in case one fails. ie wood fire place or natural gas/oil for heating, and solar/wind with a line to the electric company. Ideally if you have a renewable system you can sell back to the electric company.
But the electric company doesn't want to buy that power...
As for the pipelines they will go through.
As for Climate change/gobal warming/Climate Crisis or whatever you want to call it, the whole world's economy runs off of the black gold. The more the world (that race called man) uses it, the more harm it does to the environment which will effect our health. The atmosphere is a large volume of air, for now most people can breath fine (but asthma is on the rise etc). Now go park your car in a garage and close the door and run the car, most people would call this suicide..... Eventually the car takes the oxygen in the garage and make CO2, which causes death in humans....because there is a lack of oxygen (all burnt away when the fuel burns).
Now enlarge the picture by a zillion, the human race is slowly choking on its own inventions....

Ever seen pictures of large cities surrounded and encased in smog. Look at Los Angeles, it used to be that way, the state government brought in emission controls, which limited cars performance (and also the owners satisfaction).Even today LA still gets smog. Look a the Lower Mainland in BC, when its hot and muggy and no air flow the whole lower mainland turns into a gas chamber (its called air quality). The smog from burning fossil fuels is bad and no one escapes it. Imagine that every day, choking on your own air just to survive, because you and all your kin wanted V8s with all that power.....You heated your house with oil etc, You bought stuff from a factory that used coal to generate the power.

The end result is the human race has to get off the hydrocarbons and on to renewable energy in order to just breathe clean air.

The culprit is the greedy man, who wants to make a profit and get rich; after all what do rich men do when they rape the land, they just move to another part and continue on in their environment destroying ways. Unfortuneately like the global enconomy (where everything is affecting everything else), the earth is a sphere and there are limited resources (like clean air), the rich man can not move anywhere on the face of the earth to find clean air....

The fact is everyone knows this and just stick their heads in the sand like an ostrich..... And its so much better to go into the wilderness and tear it up in a nice big 4 X 4 with its gas guzzling V8.

Recently watched a series on car upgrades on Prime called supercars, to get more horsepower the mechanics were taking off exhuast system and burning more fuel and air in the ICE. Yup the whole automobile industry is a big factor too....

Well, if your view on whether we have global warming is based on your experience of motorcycle riding in your neighborhood, then yeah, it doesn't matter much what scientific studies and data shows. Of course you have to ignore the fact that global warming increases volatility of the weather system, which leads to more very cold days as well as more hot days.

If it makes for colder weather then why do people call it global warming? Do you not see the contradiction right there?

O boy, we are going in circles. Did you not read my post on the increase in range? It gives BOTH hotter and colder days because of increase volatility. The average temperature is increasing.

I think we can finally agree on something. Things seldom make sense if you don't pay attention and think things through.

Hey, I like the sound of that! TTT - Think Things Through

I am a city worker and the city has just declared a climate emergency. All the developed countries in the world recognize climate change, which is why the Paris Climate accord exists. 97% of scientists agree that climate change is occurring, it is human caused and we are near the tipping point.

We don’t call it global warming anymore because people who cannot do math do not understand it, so we call it climate change. Whatever name you call it, it means that B.C. will experience more extreme forest fires, drought in the rain forest (we do have/had a rainforest), and cold snaps.

Insurance premiums have gone up around the Gulf of the USA because of increase in extreme weather. Insurance has also risen in B.C., but you would probably blame that on the NDP.
