Overdone ... seriously ... referencing 'Salon'. It is fluff, a self described tabloid, more concerned with popular appeal, soft opinion pieces and sex, than fact. Sorry, I know science can be hard, but try dipping into some 'real' science like Greta does. Like her, I am not here to convince you, if you ain't woke.

Because - news flash - Alberta's open pit tar sands projects are the fucking dirtiest oil producers on the planet bar none, that's why.
Luckily Greta is a much bigger and brighter person than all you climate change deniers and she doesn't give a fuck what you think (read her clever Twitter responses to both Trump's and Bolsonaro's feeble attacks). She knows you are blinded by self interest and lost beyond reason and doesn't care about trying to convince you otherwise with scientific fact.
Kenney is wasting Alberta's tax payers' money preaching to the converted - Alberta's oil sands projects have a larger carbon footprint than all of Quebec! 'Ethical oil' ... stop your denial, that is why investors from all investment sectors (public, private, foreign and institutional) are divesting themselves from your dirty oil projects.

Listen up, get woke ... Greta rocks!
I don’t see her going to China either, some say it’s carbon footprint is huge. Why doesn’t she go there to tell them how to run their country? I think you know that already but choose to ignore the facts and spout your mantra about the oil sands. What a poor Canadian you must be if you are one, not to stand up for your own country. Greta will fade into obscurity soon enough where she belongs.

Sorry, my friend, but per capita Canada has twice the carbon footprint of China and thats a fact ignored by the climate change denying, oil drunk ignorant masses.

China is ranked 47th and India 158th by per capita carbon emissions.

With only .5% of the world's population we are the tenth largest emitting nation and one of the largest per capita.

These are indisputable scientific facts, but stick to being ignorant and embrace the crap being spewed by the likes of the United Conservative Party.

Per capita carbon footprint print means nothing, convenient way to ignore what actually transpires in a country like China. Why don’t you talk in absolute values? How many coal fired power plants does China have compared to Canada?

Like Greta does? Seriously? She’s a 16 yr old kid with some obvious problems if you’ve ever watched her on TV. What exactly are her credentials that she dips into “real” science? Has she finished grade 10 yet or whatever passes for that in Sweden? Surely you’re smarter than that. But hey if not, keep drinking the kool aid that het and her handlers keep serving up.

Shouldn't this 16 year old girl be busy in school? How does she have all this time to travel? The groups that are using her as a pawn are a very selfish bunch.
I believe she’s on a school-sanctioned “sabbatical”.

Yeah, nice deflection attempt, but how is he wrong? If you're any smarter, if the facts are on your side, not his, go on and explain...

Moving on...
Here's a great chart on relative GHG emissions for different sources of oil (put the cursor over the colours for details) :

https://oci.carnegieendowment.org/#total-emissions

Have some more:

Anyways, to stay on topic, Trump only proves he's more foolish than a 16 year old girl.

Whatever other shit he does, even if that was okay, on this issue he is 100% full of shit. When Thunberg comes around, instead of crowing like he's cock of the walk, he should crawl away into the shadows like the cockroach he is.

Trump is an ahole no doubt about that but something about Greta irks me as well. Maybe she’ll fall off her zero carbon footprint boat next trip she takes.

In softness, strength.
Lesseee, 16yo Greta Thunberg makes times person of the year.. Regardless if you agree with her or not.
Trump on the otherhand, gets first place for being impeached in his first term. Whether you agree with it or not.

Which one looks like the true asshole?

Not much doubt here.

I find it ironic that those who think someone who puts themselves on the world virtue warrior stage shouldn't be criticized because she's 16 (but looks 11), would probably be front and centre with criticism if the oil industry, Big Pharma or pro life factions used a minor as the face of their issues.

Look at how those kids were attacked because they were wrongly accused of getting into it with an old native guy in DC.

woke, no, I'm not a superficial delusional hypocrite

informed, sure, against pollution, sure, willing to bankrupt our Country for no purpose, no

https://www.pressreader.com/canada/edmonton-sun/20191219/281921659945443

read this, look at any, any article on solar power, not one of them will say anything less than a 15yr payback

facts, the world isn't going green, at any rate that will reduce emissions significantly

Canada doing it, at less than 2% of world emissions will do nothing to move the needle, fact

and when you talk about emissions per capita it is useless, because as we constantly hear, like in the Feds argument in court right now/past, emissions aren't local

TOTALS MATTER

you could kill everyone in Canada tomorrow, shut down everything

IT WOULDN'T MAKE A FUCKING BIT OF DIFFERENCE

CAUSE CHINA AND INDIA ARE OPENING COAL POWER PLANTS AS WE SPEAK AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOR THE NEXT 20-30YRS

and they are both around 40 times our population

and if they get to our level, which they have both publicly stated is their goal, in terms of wealth

which means our lifestyle, the world isn't going to care about Canada's emissions in 30 yrs

Well the oil does have sand and dirt in it......The reason its so expensive is the separation process, and like any process it has waste. ...

and you like all the others are talking about the past

this is the future oilsands, which already has a cap agreement in emissions

https://edmontonjournal.com/news/po...for-an-economic-win-but-will-trudeau-allow-it

read it, look at the per barrel emissions, look at the already agreed upon emission cap for the oilsands

then quit deluding yourself that oil is going away any time soon

or that the Arabs, Americans, or any other dictator 3rd world country is going to stop producing if we do

go look at California, look at the Yale, I believe study about how inefficient they actually are down their

look at what goes on in Africa, Nigeria, Venezuela right now, Russia

OIL ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE FOR AT LEAST OUR LIFETIMES

TO STOP PRODUCING AND SELLING IT IS GOING TO DO NOTHING BUT MAKE US POORER

if you really don't think that then stop using it, NG, any by product of it

yeah, what I thought, hypocrite, just like the 16yr old, or do you think she only uses sunlight for all her electric needs, ect........

most of you are from BC, where the argument is the same as Que

we got enough of your oil and gas, so go fuck yourself with the rest

hypocrite

that's as woke as I need to be

when you stop using any, any at all, not even one drop, one JG, no plastic, no internet, no phone, never go on a vacation, no condoms, yeah, no condoms, lets see you do that last one, lol

then you can talk

Overdone and MasterBlaster, your arguments continue to be garbage - your solution is to do nothing, but to continue to be driven by greed - exactly what Greta accuses you of. What do you foresee as the outcome of doing nothing? Why not recognize that exploiting the tar sands is unnecessary except to sustain localized greed. BC receives no financial benefit from their exploitation and most Canadians voted for change, so stop grandizing their importance to our financial health or nation building, your opinions divide you from the majority of Canadians.
And Greta's prominence grew from the protest of one to inspire billions, if you are uninspired it is your loss.
You're never going to convince people like Overdone and MasterBlaster - just add them to your ignore list and move on.

Nothing wrong with being as environmentally aware as possible, and to personally re-use and try to be as limited in pollutig as possible, ut how many who worship Thunberg do that?

How many go to and from her rallies in SUV's? How many kids who are praising her have given up cell phones, computers, designer clothes and shoes? How many refuse to eat meat? How many won't wear synthetics? How many compost? How many eat fast food, and the one-use containers it comes in? How many have lowered their home heating by 5 degrees? How many even bother picking up after themselves?

The hypocrisy is strong among many of the virtue signallers.

Just try - even for one day - to not use things that are produced by the very products you want eliminated, and see what happens.
