The hate speech component landed him in court but the overall circumstances, including the fact that he was a teacher misleading a room full of students is what got him convicted. It's always about context. That's why the woman in the parking lot dispute wasn't charged.

Don't get me wrong. I do not condone racism or the use of racial slurs.

But can you imagine how backlogged our justice system would be if they charged everyone who used a racial slur?

Society in general has become way too damn sensitive. Everyone is much to fast to throw out a buzz word like "Racist", "Assault", "Rape", because they know that people will overreact, and turn on whomever it was said about. If you don't like something stop listening, and walk away. But don't make up lies, or blow it out of proportion, instead grow a thicker skin. I've had people say rude things to me right on this very forum, heck I didn't even report it to a mod, forget run to the cops and crown. What is more important is how we react to a situation, than the situation itself most times.

Re; racism. The concept of different races is outdated. There is more genetic difference amongst these so called human 'races' than there is between different groups. The physical differences we see is due to a difference in phenotype expression. Which is simply a result of our ancestors living in different climates.

Agreed. The term racism would be better replaced with breedism - humans are the only self-domesticated species. German Shepherds feel superior to Mexican Chihuahuas and both feel superior to mongrels / mixed-breeds / mutts. Ironically, many pure breeds are inbred to the point of retardation and gross physical deformity. A human analog was Charles II of Spain, so inbred he was, inter alia, "slow", had a massive jaw and drooled, and was apparently unable to reproduce.

That's immaterial, and quite irrelevant.

People base their biases on factors that would never include invisible genetic markers.

Skin colour, type of dress, perceived mental or physical differences, area of origin, religion, etc have much more bearing on racism.

Irish and Italian immigrants experienced extreme racism in North America last century, and genetics were certainly never a factor.
