I hope they go bankrupt. Ski resorts are a environmental hazard. They are a disturbance to wildlife, deforest land, use up water when they make artificial snow and maintenance operations waist energy along with all the fossil fuel burnt by people driving to the resort.

It’s not a ski resort so deforestation, snow production and maintenance operations do not occur. Some of your other concerns apply, but because what has happened there will likely be more “waist of energy” to fix and replace the damaged equipment as well as install new security measures. I hope the company succeeds and that guests, many of whom might not otherwise be able to walk up the trails, from home and abroad get to experience and enjoy all that the attraction has to offer. I also hope that whoever is responsible for this cowardly reckless act goes to jail for a long time.

A most ridiculous argument, compared to mines, pulpmills and logging which was the mainstay of the BC economy for decades a gondola or ski area is a relatively benign industry that provides descent paying jobs.

I haven't seen or hard anything about poisoning whales at the Aquarium.

Do you have any further info?
There were rabid Nazi like anti whales in captivity protests at the Vancouver Aquarium for years and it really stepped up before the whale deaths, the suspicion on the table was it was eco terrorism. The toxin dispersed so quickly it was unidentifiable, there are assholes out there who would gladly kill the whales if it resulted in a ban, thats really fucked shit!

The wire rope will be spliced back together , that is done all the time .
Grouse mountain old Gondola cables for cargo had so many over the years .

I have watched them doing the splice and if there is a good crew , there quite quick at it.

Bullshit, of course - a new cable is on order.

That would imply that the old cable had been found to be defective, and not 'cut'. Splicing a new section into the cable is a fairly simple job, a running splice is done regularly on all lift cables as they stretch with time and need shortening. if it was cut, and yet a new cable is required, I'd guess that as it and cars fell the clamps joining cars to the cable damaged it in many places, hence the need to replace it.
