I’ve only experienced fleeting glimpses of the Northern lights from a window seat above the clouds so my experience there is limited, but the most breathtaking natural phenomenon I’ve ever witnessed was a meteor shower as seen from Clayquot Provincial Park. I don’t remember how long we gazed at the seemingly infinite points of light pulsating and shooting across the sky. Lying on the ground looking up, it completely engrossed our visual perspectives and imaginations. In my experience, it was uncommon at that age of 15 or so to comfortably remain silent like that in a large group for hours.
