Well instead of recycling our own garbage, we transport it to other countries that don't have regulations against garbage import. What Canadian company labelled dirty diapers as recycleable plastic. I am sure the people that own that company should go to jail, along with whoever helped them. Now Canada got a black eye because of some shit company trying to make a profit....

So its now coming back to Canada.... ehh the smell..... the stink of dirty business.....

Unfortunately its the product of "not in my backyard" for new dump sits in Canada, its not economical enough to be profitable etc. all because people complain.... bitch.... whine......

New technologies for recyling of plastics???

The world should adopt Swedens model. 99% of all household waste is recycled, 50% is burned for energy, citizens get cheaper repairs when they purchase used goods, they get refunds for recycling old clothes even! They actually IMPORT garbage from other nations to keep the recycling plants running.

Ontario company that falsely labeled garbage is bankrupt and Canadian government is picking up the tab for the return shipment of garbage. Radio new source says Burnaby, B.C. will receive and burn that garbage in a waste-to-energy facility.

Bankruptcy, well that figures.... Wonder how much money they made in that scam....The owners are probably hidden behind lawyers and shell corporations... This story reads like the Montanna's Mining problem where mining companies left behind toxic waste sites and moved/hid their money, with only an empty shell company owing the toxic sludge pit. This forced the Montanna government to clean up the toxic pits with taxpayer money.... Since then any mining companies have to put up a bond for the environment before they can start mining.... Reminds me of a line in an Eagles song "and the white man came and raped the land".

With todays technology there can be other solutions to recylcing plastics and metals.

A Canadian owned company did a terrible thing, but it was the Filipino president who threatened to declare war on Canada. I think this experience should be eye an eye opener to our government to put pressure on Canadian companies presently outsourcing work down that end of the world to also reconsider repatriating that work, not just the trash.
