Rather than starting an individual thread for each celebrity who passes perhaps it may be better to encapsulate them all in one thread which gives a greater perspective to all that we lost this year. Good or bad idea? Worth a try anyways. I will start with:

A very sad day.

Truly a sad day. He was unique in that he was an accomplished driver and a business man.

Today Bart Starr of the Green Bay Packers died. He was the first NFL quarterback that I recall watching as a little kid. Not flashy but did his job in a very team orientated Vince Lombardi environment.

Add a couple of rock musicians to the list. Dr John...Right Place Wrong Time, New Orleans artist obsessed with voodoo and the occult at 77 of a heart attack and Leon Redbone, known for his vaudeville and jazz performances and apparently discovered by Bob Dylan at 69 of undisclosed reasons. Interestingly enough there is a 1988 video of them playing Christmas music together. Sorry to see you go guys, thanks for entertaining us.
