Any suggested SP for a first timer? Safety First!

Hi, Just moved to Winnipeg not long ago, found out here has lots information, As a newbie, not be able to contribute anything yet, hopefully in the future I can bring some info to share.

There is first time for everything, So If I can get some valuable advices from the senior members probably can save me some trouble.
