Yes it can, providing the infected person cares. The issue is that it disappears without treatment...but it doesn’t really. The uneducated (many of the ones in Winnipeg)simply don’t seek out treatment.
Not slumming might help.

You don't want to have syphilis, it's not easy to find out you have and if find out late you have permanent damage. It may take heavy duty combo antibiotic to cure it.
