police have made an arrest after a video went viral showing a man yelling racist remarks at a family at Jack Layton Ferry Terminal.

A man is seen in the video approaching two men and members of their families Monday. He’s captured on video repeatedly shouting, pushing and threatening them as they wait in line at the terminal.

“You don’t ask me a question in my f— ing province,” the man screams at them.

Lombray Ball, 50, from Toronto was arrested Thursday. He’s charged with two counts of assault and threatening death.

The public video was uploaded the same day to a personal account on Facebook, where it has been viewed 1.2 million times and shared by more than 14,000 people as of Friday morning.

In a statement, the National Council of Canadian Muslims said it is “aware of the recent viral video depicting a racist verbal assault” at the terminal.

“The language used in the video against the family — some of whom are visibly Muslim — is abhorrent and unacceptable,” the statement reads. “We are currently attempting to reach out to the family to make sure they receive any support they may need, including the children who were unfortunately present during this incident.”

Ball is scheduled to appear in court Friday at Old City Hall.

The above is cut and pasted ^

To me this behaviour is beyond stupid. If you have these opinions etc the last thing you want to do in our current society is go on a rant about them in public where pretty much EVERYBODY has a cell phone that can record video. It is just EPIC stupid because someone is going to record it.

I am not condoning the actions/words etc.I am just saying it is pure idiocy to do this in public.

I went to use the washroom at a service station and there was an elder asian lady there waiting to use it. She apologized repeatedly and offered me to go ahead of her. I refused and gestured towards the washroom when her younger family member came out. The younger family member also apologized profusely. Normally, when Canadians apologize (for no reason as CAnadians do), I usually make fun of them and say "for WHAT" but to apologize for being in the line up first is not necessary and made me realize how badly these people have been treated by previous Canadians. I was very ashamed of my country and let them know they had the right to use the washroom, if they were there first. Of course they couldn't believe it and acknowledge that I was sincere because other Canadian people have ruined me for them. I see internationals so happy and grateful to be here, working their asses off just to be here and our local Canadians roll their eyes to have to work minimum wage jobs. Get off your ass people because the internationals ARE taking over, because they bloody appreciate our freedom while most of us Natives take it for granted

That's making a lot of assumptions.

She couldn't even speak english. Doesn't take a genius to figure out the only word Canadians have taught her is "Sorry"

I'll just leave my middle finger behind me when I leave

You might have touched slightly on one aspect of why the Asian lady apologized to you Kami.
It is possible that she and/or her family are just happy to be in this country that they feel
obligated in some way to not be seen even slightly as getting in our way. If that makes sense.

You could call it a respect thing to being in a new country. And I do know for a fact that a lot
of Asian folks especially the "old school ones" really know how to appreciate being out of
a totalitarian regime and being in a free country. Just spit balling here.

OH yah almost forgot, in light of SR's posting title.

You can't fix stupid, cuz that comes with birth!! :pound:

Asian people I have noticed have been quite rude, when there sort of dealing sort of just one face in the crowd,

but you lock eyes with them, and all that changes they are polite and thankful as hell.

I think we tend to forget, we are all created equal more or less,
but there are vast cultural differences

growing up in the middles east, in a vast tough hostile environment they tend to have a scorched earth policy,
you do me wrong I do you twice as wrong, or kill everyone in your hole dam family.

growing up with a billion Chinese people. you work hard to survive waste nothing,

growing up in a land of plenty, you grow fat lazy and a sense of entitlement

I was dating a guy in Williams Lake, years ago. We went to the mall and he said he wanted to apologize ahead of time for the drunk natives..... when we pulled into the parking lot the only dude carrying beer was a rugged white guy and the natives were all in brite white t-shirts carrying Marks Workwear World bags out of the mall.... I kinda had something to say about that (Being 1/4 native myself)

ignorance can be bliss though...

Sadly when you actually live in a place near any reserves you get used to many intoxicated natives hanging around the liquor stores. That's just a fact.

Japanese = extremely polite.

Korean = Not too bad.

Chinese = Horrible. Communism has destroyed what is left of the culture and most modern Chinese people don't have an ounce of common sense and politeness.

Yes, cell phones in public, means people should mind their p's and q's. Everywhere in public, is an opportunity for someone to record your actions. Even in privacy of your home you will have to watch out for those cell phones. So everyone is on their best behaviour, best behaviour, best behaviour, all the time; until they crack and let it all out, usually at some inopportune time....

Shit happens to the best of us. In this world of stress, people can do unfortunate things. People are only human, we can't be every thing to everybody, do and be the right thing to all people. We all have prejudices, and in moments of stress/anger that darkness can come out.

That man in the video will have his day in court for his actions.

People have the right to their opinions and beliefs.

The nursery rhyme that goes "Stick and Stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me". Old school teaching kids to have thicker skins....

Today its gone beyond physical abuse, but in now in the realm of mental abuse. Words do hurt particularly if they of a personal nature (you can include race and religion in this too). Being politically correct is starting to turn people the other way (the bigoted way), misinformation, lack of education on religion, groups of people etc. Our Western society with the coming of the social media, has turned the population into one very big large crowd. Crowd dynamics apply, the lowest common denominator.... Every one knows that a large crowd, basicly acts as a intelligence demagnifier. Humans are herd animals, despite that every one of us is supposed to have an intelligent mind.

Unfortunately the laws of magnetism are not in effect. Opposites repel each other, alike attract each other. Well shit does happen. When I see a person make a video and they instantly have to upload to the web and they are saying so with enthusiasm, I'm thinking LCD.
