And when someone decides that discretion doesn't matter, and his wife finds out about his preferences? At best, that lovely passionate woman gets a phone call from an angry wife calling her vile names. At worst, the wife outs the SP on social media, gets her thrown out of her In call/residence, & names her in a divorce action...

Yes, a number of people had problems because their identity was found out. Not necessarily by SPs, it could be their friend/pimp/SO/ex, or maybe a hacker. There were multiple reports of extortion attempts, and in a rare case SP would publish a list of her clients on a forum. The chances are small if you deal with reputable providers, but why not protect yourself.
A burner phone helps to separate your secret identity, not just the phone number. You should also use a separate apple ID (goggle ID for Android) for the burner. Don't mix social media accounts. For example, Facebook will easily expose your identity to multiple contacts if you use your real facebook on the same phone you use for the hobby.

some marriages have actually survived because people are allowed to do their own thing from time to time, what ever that is,

Google is diabolical. It tracks you in so many ways. I quit using google for this hobby unless in incognito. I downloaded a barebones browser that i keep in a folder several pages into my phone. I only use my phone for the hobby. The step son got caught because his wife got into his location history. Why on earth would google think any user needs to find out where they were two weeks ago at 3:30pm? I have turned any tracking off. Which they don't make easy. And if you are not careful you can inadvertently turn it on again.
My only rule in this hobby is I don't cheat when I'm in a relationship. Not judging anyone who does but I've dated some really jealous ladies with no chill. Even wanting to go through my phone . I'll start off by telling her it's none of her damn business what's on my phone to get the fight started but if she persists I'll toss her the phone,all she's gonna see is lots of pics of 70's & 80's pin up girls.
