Nevada's "Bunny Ranch" Owner wins GOP Primary: Sex and Politics in the US

Sex and politics in the US seems to be nothing more than a confluence of contradictions. How can a country be so politically conservative and judgmental while, at the same time, actively seek leadership that doesn't seem to align with those beliefs?

Dennis Hof, owner of the Moonlight Bunny Ranch in Nevada, has just won a GOP primary.

cool, i have spoken with him a few times over the years...he is conservative, which really is a contradiction....there are only 4 brothel licenses in nevada i believe....and he is always separating his business from the broader sex industry by saying the other businesses are not "ethical" like his.... he famously stated when the sex work laws in canada were struck down.... that canadian sex industry was rampant with human trafficking, under age sex workers and disease.... that was when i called him the first time...

i was calm and polite explaining what we had achieved here in vancouver and that he was wrong about sex work in canada. i also tried explain how his statements were not helping our work towards a more open industry....

at the end of our conversation he said " geez maybe i should open a place in vancouver".....i said we would welcome him and that sex workers here would appreciate access to the kind of clientele he would bring and that clients here would also appreciate the opportunity to meet some of the workers from nevavda who would inevitably tour here....

he is controversial and not everyone thinks his business model is "ethical"....there are lots of rumors and stories of things not being all that great at the moonlight bunny ranch....

i simply was trying to get him onside with canadian sex workers message and was polite during my interaction with him.

It will be interesting to read Cami Parker's comments about this.

I believe she used to work at his brothel in Nevada, and if memory serves me right, Cami was engaged or even married to Dennis Hof, Nevada's most famous pimp.

It seems he's become politically active as a means to protect the Biz from prohibitionists. izza:

"Hof’s bid comes as a petition drive is underway in Nye and Lyon counties to eliminate their brothels.
Activists in the two counties, which have 40% of the state’s brothels, have until Friday to gather enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot.

Some have said the petitions are aimed at Hof. In February, the Nye County sheriff shut down the the Hof-owned Love Ranch near the town of Pahrump over building code violations.

At the Bob Ruud Community Center in Pahrump, voter traffic was heavy as people sought the shadiest path possible to cast their ballots. Temperatures hit 106".

Bottom line, in Canada he would be a pimp, living off the avails of an escort(s). Oh sorry he is charging rent.... for the room, and for material things like towels, condoms etc.....
