I liked that movie where the guy survived the grizzly bear attack and was given up for dead yet managed on his own to crawl back to the fort and survived. You're making that guy sound like a sissy.
That was The Revenant, based on a true story about American trapper/hunter/guide Hugh Glass quite possibly Leo's best movie

Quite possibly the best movie....ever.
Unfortunately they may never do a accurate movie on Jeremiah Johnson....if you ever get your hands on his autobiography ...it'll make your skin crawl.
If you ever watch the Revenant....pay special attention to the superior horses in that movie...particularly the branded ones.

At the gym because its flu season, I make sure to wipe before and after using equipment, and I don't go if I have a cough.
Personal hygiene: cough into arm, not hand. If stuffed up use a nasal solution to clear your sinus (neilMed sinus rinse, Nettipot etc). Basicly a solution of salt and baking powder to rinse sinus.
If you have a coworker who is coughing his lungs up, when they take a break, poison his cubicle with lysol spray, it'll kill germs, but might give him incentive to go home.
Flu shots- doctors recommend it.

I guess you saw that old Robert Redford film and found it less than realistic?

If you read the book, you'd find that movie, although done well....very sanitized for the 1970's audience it was created for.
Hugh Glass ,Jerimiah Johnson, Jim Bridger, and Kit Carson, lived in very brutal times

If a guy can't be bothered to shower when he smells like a sewer, how likely is he going to be to cough into his armpit, or wash his hands after horking up a lung or taking a dump?

With Sp's encountering a wide assortment of men, many with dubious sanitary habits, are they more likely to get colds and flus, or more likely to build up a resistance due to exposure to a wide variety of airborne viruses?

It threatened me just as I was leaving for a holiday. Here's what I do every time:
I made sure that I didn't get a chill (Which is what let it in in the first place). That meant extra fleeces, scarves, long johns, toques, whatever it took to keep my body temp up and the chill out.
Squeeze lemon/lime with honey and hot water or apple juice.
Sleep well.
It went away. I had a great holiday!

I was raised that way...being of Scandanavian genetics......stay warm, don't go outside with your hair wet, if you fall through the ice, build a fire, and don't move away from it for 12 hours, unless for wood....oh ....and if someone gives you the flue....sharpen your war axe.
Then later in life many people told me that going outside with your hair wet didn't make you sick, and getting chilled didn't matter either.
This practice is so much a part of me, that I did have a hard time swallowing the information....I'm glad you posted this Sporting, you and my Mom would have gotten along well.

I forgot to add, that in addition, I don't cancel regularly scheduled strenuous things. Eg. got together with my usual foursome for some sport, drank some beer etc. In other words, don't baby yourself! Cause your body to rally . Worked for me.

Flu is caused by a virus, not chills, wet hair or lack of sleep. A virus.

Antibiotics don't help. Popping Cold FX pills, or lemon juice and honey won't cure it.

Resting, keeping warm and drinking fluids don't hurt, but time and your body's natural defences will.

Eventually.

Well I got it, and BAD!
Shit...yesterday I couldn't drag a calf 40 yards without taking a breather.
This is the easiest way i've found. The ankle lock works good. Must be made for Semi's tho, could be a foot shorter for those Angus cows who like to stay on top of things...
Hope everyone's feeling better!

Yeah I know.....I just use a canvas tarp, with two fist sized stones tied in the corners, as handles.
I fold them into it, and most times the cow will follow out of pure instinct....or run me over trying to free the calf.
I'm getting to old for this shit.
Thanks for the considerate thought.

and a pack of Wolves is around, they are ignoring my calves, and I wonder if they are looking my way, figuring I've come down with the Plague.
If I'm not around next week, you know they figured I was the straggler....it'll be a good death.

If you guys have not seen it yet, I would like to recommend a movie called The Grey starring Liam Neeson. I think you'd like it.

But if you are well rested and not stressed out your immune system could prevent you from getting sick in the first place.

I checked out the trailer on youtube and it looked cool so i immediately go to netflix to watch the whole thing and its not available on nexflix. Netflix Canada blows. Don't know how many times I've went there to look up a movie only to find out its not available.
