No problem. Hide under your desk like the films in school showed you. Duck, and cover.

It's unreal how this is not a hot topic.

You've got one Dictator in N Korea and a Twitter Happy nut bar in DC both threatening great fury and anger.

Yet the public is putting their heads in the sand. Like woody said, back in the day, school kids would do drills getting under their desks. As if that would help :p

There were protest marches in Vancouver over the Russians exploding nukes underground in Siberia, the US and Cuban crisis etc.

Now, barely a peep even when the false alarm was set in Hawaii. Snooze fest.

Trump does not have a launch button.
He has a "football" (that's what they call it) that sends a launch authorisation signal to the military.
The people in the missile silos, the captains of the submarines, and the pilots of the bombers all have the final decision.
I think a lot of them will be more reluctant to launch with him sending the signal.

Taillights last gleaming. A great little reminder that not all goes bang when someone pushes the bitten.

Not sure what they are using as a criteria to say we are closer today then in the last 40 yrs.

Are they thinking asteroid or global warming this days..
As for our little friend North Korea..they have a few missel . With a nuke ,no garenty they will work as planed.

And would the world go to a nuclear war over retaliation on them or even a pre entice strike.none nuclear.

Don’t forget if you’re out having a picnic, pulling the white tablecloth over your self will protect you from a nuclear blast!

I cannot think of a reliable scenario for the humanity to NOT use nuclear weapons ever again.
Memories fade, historical lessons get forgotten, and mistakes tend to get repeated.

When more countries have nukes, the chances of their use increase a lot. When only two superpowers had it, it was easier to see they would be mad to fight between First and Second (now defunct) world. US vs North Korea does not have the same doomsday vibe.

The aggressive rhetoric has a dangerous impact on public opinion, little by little. It's not just the two recent morons, either.

In 2014 (while not known at the time), Russia was ready to put its nuclear forces on alert when annexing Crimea.
It would be the first time in decades, and even by mentioning this Putin escalated unusually high. It's known he thought he was fighting the US influence in Ukraine. I cannot recall the last time US and Russia (or USSR) exchanged even implicit nuclear threats like this, it was really no-no. Obama administration preferred to not notice that time.

If I read your statement right felix the last time it almost came to MAD was 1962, the cuban missile crisis.

Yeah time to Hit the Caddyshak, they have had some awesome lineups in there recently, the new young crew of peelers is getting it done! Same at the Paramount, it’s quite busy these days.

It won't be Russia vs USA.
More likely India vs Pakistan, both asshole countries.
Or Israel prodding Iran into a pre emptive strike.
Little Kim know exactly how far he can push his luck, it won't be him who pushes first.

Just my luck.
Work hard for the past 30+ years.
Build a successful business, become debt free, stockpile a bunch of cash for my retirement, daughter is a couple of years away from leaving the nest.
Jethro is finally going to get to kick back, spend the rest of his days doing what he wants, like relaxing on a beach somewhere or fucking hot SP's.
And some asshole is going to blow us all up.

Don’t worry if your daughter goes to college and the government they’ll soon take away your retirement fund and you’ll welcome the cleansing nuclear fire :pout:

I don't think Felix was referring to the Cuban missile crisis in 1962 because he mentioned the Obama administration.

In 1962, Obama was 1 year old, born in Aug. 1961. At least that's what we are told. Of course we won't really know until Trump decides when and where Obama was born.

The Cuban missile crisis involved John Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev - and it was a blessing that after 13 days, 'cooler heads prevailed'.
