Looks good and a great cast too.

I've been enjoying their dramatic series content and documentary content a lot the past few years.

Premieres Sept 10th on HBO US not sure about HBO Canada. It's usually a week or so behind. Agree, HBO has really ramped up their game the last few years!!

Vinyl was an excellent series but got cancelled after one season ;-(

I was shocked that it was cancelled. Scorsese and Jagger provided a great historical perspective of the punk pre grunge era IMO. I PVR'd all ten episodes. :thumb:

True Detective series one was awesome. Second was ok.

"The Night Of" was brilliant with a US Born Muslim being wrongly accused of a murder. Great writing and the cast was excellent.

Most recent documentary I PVR'd was "The Defiant Ones" which gave the history of Dr Dre / Jimmy Iovine's success story from poor beginnings to being multi billionaires.

I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. I haven't seen the Defiant Ones but I'll have to give that a look. I found the Jinx fascinating and if you like documentaries and haven't seen it you should give it a look.

I'm watching a new series called Snowfall that takes place during the 70s in LA. The "snow" is white and powdery but not so cold if you catch my drift.

There are 3 separate story lines with minimal intersection after 5 eps, though that will likely change. I'm impressed with the series so far.

It is interesting what they can get away with on network tv now days. There is a torture scene which, while it happens behind closed doors, leaves very little to the imagination. At one point the one kids say to the other kid, "wow - he is really giving that guy a beating!" The other kid listens closer to the door and says, "he's not beating him, he's doing him!!!". When the door does open, the guy who "got done" is lying on the bed with his ass in the air and clearly has no fight left in him lol.

Be sure to watch the trailer. Maggie Gyllenhaal looks like she will be great in this series.

Too short though - only 8 eps in season 1.

It is likely going to make me feel nostalgic for the 70s :)

watched the pilot episode tonight and definitely a good show.
they did an outstanding job in recreating a 70s vibe with the set,
wardrobes and tasteful cinematography.

loved the dialogue between the two pimps at the bus depot, scouting
for bitches. the jive lingo and coded handshake was spot on.

mood reminded me a lot of Taxi Driver. and damn…how about them Cadillacs?

highly recommend. too bad there's only 8 episodes.
hope it makes to Season 2.
